41 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2012

My Impala's service traction control and engine power reduced lights came on 05/07/12 and I loss power to my car. I took my car in to a chevy dealership to have it serviced, I was told after they diagnosed it that I needed a new throttle body so I had it replaced for the cost of $647. 00 1 week later I was driving home and my car loss power and shutdown completely luckily I wasn't in heavy traffic and was able to pull over to the side of the road. I tried to restart it and white smoke came from the tailpipe so I had it towed back to the same dealership they told me after looking @ it that now I needed a new engine which would cost me $6200 I didn't get any lights on the dashboard or any other indication that I was having engine trouble and they cant tell me why it happened. I have my car serviced like clockwork @ the dealership spending good money for supposedly good quality service instead of some rinky dink garage but I guess that didn't matter. This happened just after warranty expired, I have 9100 miles and 3 car payments left.

46 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2011

First, when I slow down to turn a corner, I take my foot off the gas. After the turn, when I press the gas I have no power. It doesn't die, it just won't go anywhere for about 15-20 seconds, no power. That doesn't sound like a long time unless you are sitting in the middle of a busy intersection. I have to come to a complete stop for about 20-30 seconds, then take off. Sometimes it goes, but feels like it jerks into gear. That's ok at stop signs but stop lights that turn green as I approach can be dangerous. Also, if I turn a corner onto another street, it hesitates. And sometimes I have almost been hit from behind. People expect you to turn and proceed. When you just stop, they may not. I also noticed one day, when I just coast on a level road, my car sometimes accelerates for quite a while, instead of slowing down immediately. I once took my foot off the gas at 45 mph and coasted on flat road for 2. 5 miles. The latest related problem is. . Spring 2013, twice, I turned a corner and it just died. I had to pull over to the side of the road to get out of traffic. After a few minutes, it cranked back up. Thankfully, I was on a city street and not a four lane road. I also have problems with parking. I put my foot on the brakes and pull into parking spot. When I put it in park, it lunges forward. Or if I stop in traffic, sometimes it lunges after it stops. I have to make sure that I leave plenty of room in front for this problem. I think it has something to do with the computer allowing the gas to flow or stop. I had the transmission rebuilt and it still does it.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2010

Once again the service traction control and engine power reduced lights are on. We have taken the car to don brown chev dealership multiple times with no fix in sight. Been told it's a clip that came loose and was fixed multiple times. It would be helpful to find some place that can actually fix the problem or for gm to come up with a fix. This is not a recall item and should be on the list due to the multple incidents. This problem has been occurring intermittently on the car since 2009.

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

Since I have had my Impala I have had several problems with the CA. The first problem that I noticed was that my windshield wiper fluid stop coming out after on having the car a few months, I later found out that the motor had gone out. Another problem that im having is that the check tire service light continues to come on even after, tires have been filled and replaced, I have also noticed that on occasions many of the other service lights come on like check airbags, and brakes even after car has been serviced. My biggest issue is that my transmission fluid has begun to leak out my car and no one not even the dealership can figure out where or why its leaking. This causes the car to hesitate and jerk upon acceleration. Reading a lot of the forums out I'm not the only person having these problems and I think that an investigation should be done on the Impala.

Failure Date: 06/04/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. While driving approximately 40 mph at 2,000 rpm, the contact released the accelerator pedal and the rpm immediately increased. Occasionally, the rpm will remain the same when pressure is released from the accelerator pedal. After the failure occurs, the vehicle will continue to accelerate for a few seconds. After a period of time, the rpm's will return to normal. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but they could not determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic stated that there was not a solution to correct the failure. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 12,500 and current mileage was 14,900.
