The key gets stuck and I can't remove the key; I can't take the key out and then the battery drains and car is dead.
The engine electric brakes all shut down steering wheel locked up and my daughter smashed into telephone pole on August 31 2023. Airbags didn't deploy for front and side airbags were deflated no air. No warning lights prior that I'm aware of. My daughter was injured pcs and cervical sprain.
While driving at highway speeds the car will act up and the engine will shut off, I get the message on the odometer display that reads, engine power is reduced, service throttle, starter disabled. This is not a good thing to have happen while driving.
Heating and air conditioning actuators and/or blen door getting stuck so the air will not switch from cold to hot or hot to cold without pulling the glove box out and manually turning them by hand. Heater will blow hot air and then randomly switch to cold air. When it's cold outside, I cannot defrost my windows cause it gets stuck on cold air which impairs visibility.
In motion on a city street turning left , pedal stuck brakes not working and hit by on coming car , flipped in air about a block , rolling over again and again , no air bags depleated, broken ribs, concussion, skin lacerations , bruises, glass logged in parts of body , face and feet.
Car was running fine. Put car in part to run into the store and came back and was unable to shift car out of park.
While wife was driving at normal speed car went into limp mode many times over last few months causing accelerator pedal sensor codes. We have since changed this pedal sensor 6 times and same issue and codes pop up. We also changed throttle body w sensor and connector pigtail. I think there is corrosion in ecm and all these items have failed. These items should have been recalled as manufacturer defects in my opinion. We are still having problems same codes and im not the only one!.
When first purchased I had to change accelerator petal. When I took it to the shop I was told they get a lot of people w Impalas same as my year 2008 that needed to have the accelerator petal changed every so often because they would go out and it would cause the check engine light to go on and off because the vehicle was sending the wrong signals. I would drive on the highway and street it would cause reduced engine to come on and slow my car down almost leading into accidents because I did not know it was about to happen. It would come and go on as it wanted. The electrical part of the car is something in the car continues to drain my battery. Ive gotten a new battery and it still drains causing me to have to get it recharged. The suspension I was also told for the year of my car is bad. When purchased I found out that again people that purchased these years of vehicles had problems with the control arms and that I now have to take it to get fixed because one hit to a pot hole can cause the under part of the car to break and cause a bad accident. I did not know Impalas had this many problems. I seen the police Impalas for 2008 were recalled for suspension, but they all seem to share this common problem as well as the actuator continuously clicking. It seems to be an easy fix, but I shouldn't have to fix something that is a common problem for the Impalas.
Engine power reduced throttle disabled - car shut completely down on the highway going 65.
Rear door locks, defrost, trunk lid stopped working. Noticed smoke on my passenger side while driving in town. I took it in and was shown that it melted the wires together and melted the rear body harness connector. ( I kept the part if needed) this is a danger to drivers. The fire can start at any time while driving! I believe this should be a recall. After researching I see this is happening to many of these cars.
Reduced engine power light comes on intermintently while driving had the throttle body and accelerator pedal replcaed twice after I bought the car with 75000 miles on it. Still the reduced engine power light comes on. Just yesterday I was unable to start my car. Throttle problems light came on in window.
Hesitation during acceleration.
Very bad knocking noise also electrical fire could've caught on fire.
Takata recall. When vehicle is started a loud screech happen every time vehicle is started, once vehicle is in motion on highway, street, city. And in motion the vehicle starts alarming and lettimg me know in the information widow check tire monitoring system with tire pressure light consistently on then vehicle alarming sounds again to check stability trak and then it alarm s again with the check engine light that the vehicles engine power has been reduced and vehicle is no longer able to pick up speed right away this has been going on sense I purchased it. Also when im making turns the vehicle will alarm about having stability trak serviced.
Ignition is messing up and the power will go down.
Takata recall I have a 2008 chevy Impala I'm having problems with engine reduce car is jerking and slowing down I had the patio replaced and one sensor and now I am having a throttlebody put on hopefully hopefully this stops the problem but this issue has been going on for a very long time other people I have communicated with that has the same car as me are having the same problems unfortunately I look these problems up in our cars for the 2008 chevy and was not on the recall list which I think that it should.
Instrument panel engine hot air conditionar off. Temp gauge stopped working and car started in 30 temp and still showed engine hot ac off. Car was stopped, started, on highway, in town didnt.
Know issue of heater going out and ticking sound. Heat not on one side of the car.
Shift lever would not come out of park. Car was parked in a city parking lot.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise progressing from the front of the vehicle, a warning light illuminated several times indicating traction off. Most recently, the contact was unable to make a turn, pulled the vehicle over and the vehicle was unable to be driven. The vehicle was not yet inspected and diagnosed by a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting for a response to determine a solution to repair the vehicle. The failure mileage was not available.
Fire started in the fuse box. No aftermarket products were added to the vehicles electrical system. No additional load was put on the electrical system.
(dyd missing dealer) tl the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact called the dealer several times, but received no response in a reasonable time frame. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for further inspection and diagnosis. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v355000 (electrical system). The contact stated that the key failed to turn over to start the vehicle numerous times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
My car stopped on 630. It said disabled full throttle. I had to sit for 15 minutes before it would start. I then hear a clicking noise that started at 830am and stopped at 832am. I've had nothing but problems with this car. Do not buy any Impala, unless you have a lifetime of fixable recalls. It's hot in arkansas and to stall for 15 minutes with children in the car is unacceptable. When you call chevy customer service, they can not help you with anything. They just take your VIN number and state OH I don't see a recall for your vehicle, although you read 5598 problems/same issue you are having with your car. Erratic transmission is the whole problem. So to Chevrolet and company please think about families and children when attempting to sale a new car with used products. It's not cool and the sad part is you will not fix it. Warrant my behind chevy need a lifetime of recalls for everyone on all cars. May jesus be with your company. Sincerely a mother of 3 boys.
I was told from a mechanic the car has either pcm or ecm problems. The car starts to die out when I'm driving it then I have to turn it off then restart it. It jerks really hard when driving it. The oil pressure low stop engine message comes on. It just has a lot of electrical problems and the mechanic told me the other Impalas like mine are having either all the same problems or some of the same problems. Recall.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. While parked, both rear doors failed to unlock from the outside. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electric lock actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
Two different outcomes but stem from the same issue. While trying to start my vehicle I get a click and care won't start at all. Sometimes after several tries it does fire up. Also when it does start it will sometimes stall. Most recently while traveling didn't the interstate it stalled going 75mph leaving me to coast and disrupt 4 lanes of traffic.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle and the a/c failed to function. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was repaired in 2012 for the actuator. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
The door locks malfunction when the temperature is above 80 degrees. When this happens you must use the key to unlock or lock the driver door and manually open the other doors from the inside. The remote key system is not effective when locking or unlocking the vehicle. I asked reed lallier dealership if there was a recall on the locks but it only applies to the "ss" model and not the lt, even though the issues are the same. The issue started last summer and has gotten worse this year, when the temperature is around 75 and below the locks function fine. The malfunction only happens when it is hot outside.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle lost power and the traction control light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
I was left sitting on the side of the road. I was going 70 mph on I-94 when the "service traction control" light came on, followed by the "engine power reduced" light, then something about "disabling throttle" sensor. . . My car shut completely down, leaving me to coast across 4 lanes of traffic on interstate 94. I've owned this 2008 Impala for just about a year. . . I don't know what to do I received the letter about an extended recall back in December and I called gm because there's a stipulation of the amount of miles you can have on your car to have this problem repaired. . . Because my car has 276000 miles gm told me there is nothing they can do, at that time I asked why this item wasn't recalled. I was told if I felt the problem called for a recall I should reach out to the national highway and safety commission. I don't even feel comfortable driving my car anymore. . . This is a death trap!.
While driving at about 20-25 mph, I noticed a internal fire coming from the fuse box on the passenger side of the car.
I got a jump after the engine light came on. Took it to get ichecked they say its my ecm. What is that and is it related to that electrical recall. I was in park.
The air conditioning actuators goes bad to a point where a knocking noise will start to come from inside the dashboard. This eventually will kill the electrical system and cause the car to cut off completely, even while driving.
Blinking airbag light that is unable to be cleared.
Issue occurred twice so far. Service traction control error message appeared followed by reduced engine power. 1st time this occurred the car came to a complete stop and would not run. Was on a small side street and only doing about 15 mph. I let the car sit after calling for a ride. Car restarted and drove to dealer 2 miles away. 2nd time same set of error messages, car was doing 70 on the highway at the time and dropped to below 50 mph. Drove to dealer. Both times, repair was identified as being a defective acclerator pedal position sensor. 2nd time vehicle had 92149 miles on it. Do not have the record for the mileage for the 1st time but it was about 1 year prior with estimated mileage of 77000.
