7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2020

While wife was driving at normal speed car went into limp mode many times over last few months causing accelerator pedal sensor codes. We have since changed this pedal sensor 6 times and same issue and codes pop up. We also changed throttle body w sensor and connector pigtail. I think there is corrosion in ecm and all these items have failed. These items should have been recalled as manufacturer defects in my opinion. We are still having problems same codes and im not the only one!.

Failure Date: 07/19/2017

First, the key will not come out of the ignition without pressing the release key switch located under the steering wheel. Then the car won't accelerate over 20 mph in d while driving anywhere, it won't go over 40 in d3. Not sure why but this is what is happening with the Impala.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2017

During the summer months when the outside temperatures are high my backdoor locks will not unlock. The inside levers that pull up to unlock from inside are located at the farthest place away so I can't reach them from the front doors to unlock them that way. A small child in a car seat, someone unconscious or a pet could easily become trapped inside this vehicle. This happens if the car is running or not.

18 Equipment problem

In coming down a mountain the car trembles almost uncontrollably. I have had the rotars smoothed out last year and now I have the same problem again. My nephews wife has the same problem with her Impala and also my sister in law who also has an Impala. What can be done to fix this problem?.

19 Equipment problem

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2017

Back door locks will not open from outside of vehicle with key fob or with inside power locks, (no outside key entry locks in back doors) they remain locked at all times and my grandchild must climb over front seat to get in the back of vehicle and vice a versa to get out. If accident occurs, fire starts baby or child could not get out!! I have complained to chevy they will not do anything about it. I have read other complaints that all four door locks may go at some point. This is a defect and should be a recall. Chevy wants hundreds of dollars (each door lock)to have them fixed. I have never had a vehicle that this has happened to in 41 years of driving. I have hurt my own back trying to reach to the back seat from the front only. It started with one lock a few years ago and then the second one started. Please help!.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2016

Driving the car the other day I heard a clicking noise in the dash as I drove it the windshield and all the windows foged up. Had to pull off the side of road until the windows cleared up.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2016

My car stopped on 630. It said disabled full throttle. I had to sit for 15 minutes before it would start. I then hear a clicking noise that started at 830am and stopped at 832am. I've had nothing but problems with this car. Do not buy any Impala, unless you have a lifetime of fixable recalls. It's hot in arkansas and to stall for 15 minutes with children in the car is unacceptable. When you call chevy customer service, they can not help you with anything. They just take your VIN number and state OH I don't see a recall for your vehicle, although you read 5598 problems/same issue you are having with your car. Erratic transmission is the whole problem. So to Chevrolet and company please think about families and children when attempting to sale a new car with used products. It's not cool and the sad part is you will not fix it. Warrant my behind chevy need a lifetime of recalls for everyone on all cars. May jesus be with your company. Sincerely a mother of 3 boys.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2016

I was told from a mechanic the car has either pcm or ecm problems. The car starts to die out when I'm driving it then I have to turn it off then restart it. It jerks really hard when driving it. The oil pressure low stop engine message comes on. It just has a lot of electrical problems and the mechanic told me the other Impalas like mine are having either all the same problems or some of the same problems. Recall.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2016

I was left sitting on the side of the road. I was going 70 mph on I-94 when the "service traction control" light came on, followed by the "engine power reduced" light, then something about "disabling throttle" sensor. . . My car shut completely down, leaving me to coast across 4 lanes of traffic on interstate 94. I've owned this 2008 Impala for just about a year. . . I don't know what to do I received the letter about an extended recall back in December and I called gm because there's a stipulation of the amount of miles you can have on your car to have this problem repaired. . . Because my car has 276000 miles gm told me there is nothing they can do, at that time I asked why this item wasn't recalled. I was told if I felt the problem called for a recall I should reach out to the national highway and safety commission. I don't even feel comfortable driving my car anymore. . . This is a death trap!.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2016

The reduced engine power came up on the dashboard car started to not start or shut off while I was driving. I took the car to berglund Chevrolet in roanoke va. They charged me for putting another one on but I have been having the same problem. All of this started in January. Berglund was telling me that it was my battery there was nothing wrong with the battery. They also did a tune up on the car but only changed the spark plugs they told me that wires was not included in a tune up just the spark plugs.

26 Equipment problem

2008 Chevrolet Impala. Consumer writes in regards to dealership ignores communication from consumer about their defective vehicle . The consumer did not state what the issue was.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2015

Vehicle stuck in park unable to shift from the parked position. Parked in front of my house went to go pick daughter up from school and couldn't shift gears.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

Was on my way home from work and the transmission started slipping out of gears. Came to a stop at a traffic light and when the light turned green I could not go toward. Engine just revved. Had the car towed and was told I needed to replace transmission control solenoid because that was the issue. Had part replaced only to find the tranny itself went. Did some research and it looks like this is a very common problem and I am not the only one experiencing this issue. Why isn't this issue or defect under recall when its such a common problem and very costly as well?.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2015

Driving down the highway the alert signal beeped and my console showed the error message "service traction control, reducing engine power" it dropped my speed on the highway dangerously fast to 20 miles per hour. I the foot pedal replaced at a local dealer, then it happened 2 more times. The last time I was on a frontage road and my car turned off. Apparently this is a sensor issue that is common to the Chevrolet models and especially the Impala judging by the forums. This is dangerous as when the car turns itself off the power steering , lights, everything goes and it is sudden. The third time it happened the error message came on and 3 seconds later the car turned off.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2015

Was hit from behind by a bus/van my airbags did not open and my car engine stopped . Knees hit under dash board.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

When changing temperature in vehicle, a loud clacking noise is heard for up to 2-3 minutes even if vehicle is turned off. Service air bag light and stablizer trac service light comes on. Oil leak under car. Only 55,000 miles. Can be heard 50 years away from car it is so loud. 2008 Chevrolet Impala lt.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2015

I was struck by a truck that went though a blinking red. He stated he was just pulling out. I saw his vehicle entering the intersection on my right, slowed down and pulled over as far as possible to my left, to the edge of the road and the snow bank. He impacted my passenger side door and front fender, head light and bumper. The air bags did not deploy nor did the onstar auto call for help. I have already been in contact and onstar told me I should have pushed the button. Gm said I should have pushed the button but has opened an investigation as to what happened. They have already contacted my auto insurance, who then contacted me for permission to inspect and collect information from my vehicle. Both insurance companies agreed that my car was totaled, over $9,500 in damages without being taken apart or put on a lift. I was taken away by ambulance with injuries to my neck, shoulder and back which I am still recovering from. The other driver was found at fault an received a citation. I called the police from my personal cell phone. I ended up in the er with injuries to my left shoulder, neck and lower back which I am still recovering from.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2015

While driving my car the speed reduced itself from 40mph to 5 mph and the check engine light came on along with reduced engine power across my dashboard. The car started shaking and jerking. It then shut off while I was driving it. I had it towed the next day to the repair shop and they said a sensor was bad in the gas pedal and replaced the whole pedal. 4 days later it did the same thing. Again it started shaking and jerking then shut itself off. I took it back to the repair shop but by the time they could read the codes the car had been shut off long enough that they couldnt find anything. They cleaned the throttle body and gave it back. The next day it did the same thing. I again took it back and did not shut it off til they read the codes. It read the throttle body was bad. They replaced it and gave the car back. 30 miles later, it started all over again. I have spoke to general motors and they refuse to do anything about this issue even though there are several forums on the web with Impalas dating back to 2005 having this same issue. This is going to cause an accident and hurt/kill people if its not addressed soon.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2015

As I was driving, I got a notification on my dashboard that read "engine power reduced service traction control". I continued to drive to my destination or somewhere I could safely pull over. As I drove, the power to my vehicle had reduced significantly. During this time, the check engine light as well as the traction control light stayed on. After about 20 minutes or so, the lights went off and the car begin to operate without incident. After the day of the initial incident, I had the same problem occur 2 more times on 2 separate occasions. I have had my car since 2011 and I have had no accidents so I am not sure where or why this issue is happening but I am definitely not happy about it. I am also having issues with a knocking noise coming from my glovebox as well as the airbags light keeps coming on. Is there a recall that I am not aware of that affects these issues? if not, what can be done to rectify this problem. I am a proud chevy owner and would like to remain loyal to chevy however if I am not able to get some sort of resolution for these problems, I may have to look at going to a different manufacturer.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2014

Driving 40mph check engine light came on then reduced engine power flashed on message board several seconds later traction control light came on and service traction control came on message board. My speed was reduced to 20mph in traffic! luckily I was able to pull over safely without causing any accidrnt (fyi I had my daughter in thr car with me). I will be taking the car to a chevy shop in the morning where im sure I will have to pay high cost out of pocket even though this has been an issue for chevy owners (online srarch) and there has been many complaints with no recall. This is a serious ussue and I feel it is putting many lives in danger and should have been a recall a long time ago. Im just lucky I wasnt on the highway yet because this could have turned fatal.
