The traction control sudden went off - traction control light on and service engine light both on - first time of really cold weather/rain snow. Did it one more time and then traction control light is off and service engine is on - I see that this is a huge problem with the Impala and extremely expensive to "possibly" repair.
Driving along at 40 mph, traction light, engine light, power reducing message and all of a sudden car quits in middle of busy highway during rush hour. Able to coast to middle between two lanes of traffic going both ways. Sat for awhile and car started. This is the second such mishap.
At first it was just the passenger rear door lock that would not unlock all the time and then the driver side rear lock started to be intermittent but as of February 2015, neither will automatically unlock even using the door handle. We have to roll down the windows and unlock. Once unlocked they then rarely lock with the key fob. Why is this a problem, in case of an accident, we would not be able nor would first responders be able to quickly extricate any passengers in the rear seat. This worries us as we do take people in the back seat. If there was a child or infant, it would be horrific we have friends with a 2009 Chevrolet malibu and their rear locks are intermittent and one is getting worse. I will bet there a number of cars just like ours. I have had cars as long as 15yrs and never had a door lock problem. We currently have a car that is 31 yrs old and the door locks do not fail - and it is a Chevrolet also. The dealer has told us our car is now almost 6 yrs old and that we will just have to suck it up and pay to have them fixed. We think it is a deficit in the manufacture of the door locks and that Chevrolet should pay for it. Please look into this before some child gets killed or adults get trapped.
Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated when the driver's side door open it makes an abnormal noise coming from the heating system, while the vehicle is turned off. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. Bm.
I was driving about 25mph in town and my service traction control light came on followed by engine reduce power light.
I could not remove the key from the switch. I contacted my crain Chevrolet dealership and the staff attempted to walk me though on how to remove the key from the switch, every attempt did not work.
I have noticed a sort of jerking or chugging feeling while traveling at different speeds and different environments, such as highway and city. The problem does seem to be worsening. The service technician at the dealership referred to this as a "fishbite". I did not seem to really notice the problem until repair was made to the manifold and crank case gaskets, due to a severe oil leak. The dealership did look into my concern for the "fishbite", but a code was not found and they were unable to duplicate the problem. Is this a precursor to the other complaints involving loss of power while driving?.
Car turned off by its self while driving. Luckily had enough momentum to park it. When I stopped I placed the vehicle in park and the key was stuck in the ignition and the shifter would not move. I contact my chevy dealership and asked if this was a safety recall. It was not. I don't know why this is not a recall. Having your car stop while driving is incredibly dangerous. Considering that my powersteering and brakes went out on me. I came out of this without injury but I what if someone was going around a curve or driving in dangerous conditions. I really hope chevy takes responsibility for this and recall or in my case reimburse owners.
Newly purchased car and child locked himself in car and when I tried to unlock car with key fob doors wouldn't unlock due to an issue that a lot of these cars are having with the actuator. I did a lot of research and found that there are tons of these cars having the same issue. I was able to quickly get the door unlocked with the key but then had to climb over the seat to get the back door unlocked. . . God forbid I had to rely on my key fob to save my life someday!.
In April 2013, the traction control and abs warning light began coming on, in my 2009 Impala, when making a left turn. The lights began to come on more frequently and would stay on for longer times. I took the car to the dealer but they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. The problem has been an ongoing problem since I purchased this vehicle. The lights would stay on for a longer period of time. The problem has not been fixing by the dealer. But they keep charging me $100 per visit.
Was driving down the highway and then all of a sudden the traction light came on then I lost complete power while on the interstate going at a speed of 70mph. I was in the far left lane and had coming traffic behind me. The car completely shut down causing me to lose all power almost rear ended and trying to make my way over cutting in front of cars so that I would not be in the middle of the expressway with on coming traffic. Was able to make over to the median and thought it was something else. So then I waited there for 20 min until my friend arrived to help me and the car cranked up and drove like nothing was wrong. So I started driving again and within 45 it happened again. I waited a few mins and it cranked up. About a week or two later it happened again and has been happening more. I dont make much money and dont have it to take to a mechanic and its my only source of transportation. Please let me know if this is something that has a recall. I have seen and read this happening to other cars im wondering if they missed a year or something.
Key stuck in ignition and will not release. Repaired twice under warranty problem still persists. Numerous complaints on internet. Gm has internal knowledge of issue with proposed workaround which dooes not remedy the issue. This is a poor design. Free standing cable in shift colum moves and becomes pinched or solder comes loose from harness not allow key to be released. Vehicle cannot be unattended doors cannot be locked left stranded. Vehicle is now at dealer and no longer covered under warranty. Terrible design by gm. Now forced to pay for a repair which will not hold up and that has already been repaired twice well under warranty.
Service traction control comes up and reduce engine power. Never had any prior issues with my vehicle until now. Just got it back from the dealership today and having to take it back tomorrow because the same thing occured again. I need this issue resolved and am not the only on that has had thiss issue. I need my vehicle fixed and do not feel that I should have to pay for a manufacturing issue.
While driving approximately 65 mph, the traction control and engine power reduced warning indicators illuminated. After driving a few miles with these indicators on the disabling throttle warning came on and the vehicle stalled. I managed to coast over to the emergency lane and was able to restart the car after approximately 10 minutes. This had occurred on numerous occasions and have not been able to have it successfully repaired.
I was driving on i95 merging onto 175 in columbia, MD, my speeed was 65mph. My "service traction control" light and "reduced engine power" light came on and my car shut completely off. I had no control over the car, could not apply breaks. I put the car in park and turned the ignition switch to off for a few minutes. Luckily there wasn't any traffic behind me cause they would have hit me and killed me. I waited about 5-10 min turned the car on proceeded to my destination. The check engine light stayed on. I called the service department at bob bell Chevrolet on kane street in baltimore. I was several miles from there they couldn't come get the car so I drove it to them. They had my car approximately 2-3 days and could not replicate the incident. Since this time it has happened 8-10 times or more since may 11, 2014 I've called the service department and was to continue to drive it, they can look at it, no codes registered in December when they looked at it so they don't know what's wrong. They want me to bring my car in but don't want to give me a rental. This is too dangerous. I am scared everytime I get behind the wheel of my car.
I have gotten the blend door / air door actuator changed about 8 or 9 months ago. Once the unlock button is pressed the the ticking noise begins to go ,off it may go for 3 minutes or longer but it will eventually stop, ib thought it was just my car having an issue but when I did some research I discovered that it's alot of Impalas on other Impalas as well even by word of mouth people hear the noise and some people have stated that their car use to make the same noise.
I was at a stop sign and the reduced engine power, check traction control lights came on. The code came up I had it checked it is the accelerator pedal position sensor this can be a very dangerous occurrence . Nhtsa please look at these complaints it is a 75 dollar part and labor of 4 hours. Im paying for part and doing myself I need some reimbursement or payment of this to shop.
My vehicle started having a knocking noise from the glove box area of the vehicle which I found out to be the blend door actuator. There are tons of complaints about this part failing in Impalas with not that many miles on them.
My key keep getting stuck in the ignition. After a couple of tries of wiggling it out, it came out. But when I'd gone home for then end of the day my key wouldn't come out at all ! I had to leave my key partially started because the key wouldn't come out. So my bad dies, alarm not working and not to mention I was 4mths pregnant and I kept driving around as I spoke with a gm rep and onstar rep hoping eventually the key will come out but it didn't.
I was driving through a hilly/ curvy area of road when my reduced engine power, traction control, and throttle body diasabled message popped up. Just then I have no power, no brakes and no steering,at all! I almost crashed with my two kids in the car! upon looking up this issue I find that it is a very common issue in Impalas. Some people have had this issue while passing cars, or the freeways and more. To me this is quite a safety concern since you have no power to do anything. . . Nothing at all. I don't see how there is still no recall on this issue when there are so many reported problems and a huge safty risk!!.
I drive a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. On 8-6-13 driving the far lane on the highway I experienced a series of warning messages on the dashboard. The messages were, "service traction control, engine power reduced and service engine. " as the speed of the car began to reduce, I went to merge into the slow lane to prepare to take any necessary precautions. Before I could switch one lane a message popped up saying, "steering column has been locked. " at that point the steering wheel became very tight almost enabling me to steer into the right lane. At the same time, the vehicles mileage has dropped down to practically nothing. Lets remember I'm on the highway during 5:00pm rush hour. By the time the oncoming traffic reached me, I was able to get off onto the should of the highway. I then get a warning message saying, "engine has been disabled. " at that point I shut the car off. I've lost a family member to car failure on the high way. At this point I sit for about a minute or two and then start the car back up. After turning over a couple of times, the car starts and operates at an exceptional speed. Imagine had the cars behind not been paying attention. Maybe they were texting, fatigued, looking behind them or anything to have made them not notice the disabled vehicle ahead. This could've been a massive fatal crash. My six year old child would not have stood a chance. After researching on the internet that this is a known issue and gm has done nothing to justify the poorly assembled parts, I am very upset at the lack of concern for their buyers safety. As a single parent, I had no choice but to have the car serviced as soon as possible to eliminate any safety hazards to my child. Coming out of $300+ for something gm should've recalled when notified is unacceptable. I will be contacting all sources possible to inquire on getting a recall and hopefully saving someones life.
Chevy Impala. 3. 5 6cyl. Vehicle stuck in park. Electric pigtail ground wire for shifting broke. Vehicle cannot be moved out of park unless solenoid is pressed below center console. Wires loose could be potential fire hazard. Gm refuses to issue recall. Talked to brandy at gm 800-630-2438 on 7/1/2013 complaint number/service request 71-1199237495. Says nithing she can do and refuses to admit issue.
While operating the vehicle I noticed thick white smoke coming up from under my seat, I put down the windows was able to pull off to a safe space and by that time visible fire was coming up from around the edges of the seat I hit the onstar botton told them my care was on fire they dispatched police and fire department. After the fire was extinguished the fire department said that it appeared to them that the wiring from the seat motor at shorted out and burned through the wire casing which then caught the seat I was sitting in on fire. The auto body also stated that that appeared to be what happened to them as well.
Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the turn signals failed. The contact also stated that a rattling noise was heard from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The turn signals, however, were replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 37,614. The VIN was not available. Kmj.
"service traction control message came on, the check engine light came on & engine power will be reduced message came on". The cars speed dropped down to about 40mph & would hardly go. I didn't know what was going on. It really scared me because I thought my car was going to cut off. I did get to work safely but I am terrified to drive this car. Me and my 12 yr old was on a 4 lane when it just cut off after receiving this error message. I travel alot and and scared when this message appears!!.
I have owned my Impala since March 2010 and while it is an attractive car, I have had nothing but issues. First month a sensor goes out in the acceleration, $230 to replace, in the last 2 years we have had an annoying ticking noise when you turn the car on something having to do with the ac/heater. Seems like everyone says that it is common in Impalas but yet I have not seen a recall. I don't have the $450 to fix and it is rather embarrassing when you car pool as it is very loud and last approximately 30seconds to 45 seconds. I have also had leaks every time it rains or we go to the car wash. Water seems to be coming in from the frame by the windshield on both driver and passenger roof area. It runs down and comes out by the brake on driver side and fuse box on passenger side. I thought this water was affecting my power locks as it seems like we have had issue with our door locks not opening. They take turns, not unlocking but after reading comments on this web page seems like others are also having this same issue with locks, yet no recall. I have taken it down to be looked at but they say they don't see any issues they can pin point. Don't have any more money to put into this vehicle. I like my car but it has issues. I will do my home work before I purchase my next car.
I have a 2009 Chevrolet Impala I purchased in 2010 and the traction control light keeps coming on and the reduced engine power is also coming on during this time. I have read online where people have crashed from this I feel Chevrolet needs to do a recall. I live in atlanta and if my car reduces speed while I'm on 285 this could potentially cause I very bad crash.
Vehicle had bad shimmy and extreme tire wear on inner edges and outer edges. Took to the dealer who advised needed a tire rotation and an alignment kit - both of which would be a customer pay item. I complained to the service manager that this was a factory defect in the vehicle causing the tire wear and alignment issue. He confirmed my statement but said even his wife's car has the same issue and he can't get it covered by gm and had to pay out of pocket to correct the situation. I have rotated the tires per the manufacturers recommendations, I paid to have the vehicle aligned, and I am still wearing through tires at an alarming rate - close to every 16k-19k miles. The tires are bald on the inner and outer edges, but have tread in the middle. We have been die-hard Chevrolet purchasers, but this is our last purchase from gm unless they step up to the plate and take care of their manufacturing defects and customers. This is a safety related issue as I have no traction in snow or in rainy/slippery conditions. You can feel it in the way the car performs that it is not safe.
This is a known problem with chevy Impalas, however gm refuses to do a recall. Someone will die again at their hands. When driving the car, all of a sudden a "service traction control" message pops up, then "reduced engine power", then the check engine light goes on. The car immediately loses power and the speed is cut almost in half very abruptly. One time, the car completely lost all electrical and power while traveling at 65mph on the interstate. I was stuck with no power steering, no power brakes, etc and had to navigate to the side of the road without killing myself. I have finally figured out what the problem is due to the many forums that are popping up with other owners describing their fixes. Turns out it is the accelerator pedal position sensor. I have replaced it myself and the car is now running fine. I am not happy with Chevrolet playing with my safety and my life by not recalling this part. As I mentioned earlier. . . . People will die, I almost did.
I had just turned onto this road, had not even gone a mile. No speed, no black marks, car shut down ran off the road and hit a tree stump. Total the car. The steering wheel was bent almost in half. I have pictures of the car. I got this car new, so all miles we're put on it by me. I broke my hip, back, knee, dislocated my elbow, crushed my ankle and foot. Had a head injury, a deflated lung. I was in the hospital for two months and a nursing home for a month. I have had 14 surgeries. Still not able to work or do a lot of things for my self. With the recalls showing the issues of the engine shutting off, I need this looked into.
I have been having problems with this right side knocking in the dashboard for along time. I've taken it to the dealership but that not really sure of what it is. I was told that it could be a sensor but had to take the dashboard to actually know what it is. I haven't gotten fixed because I just don't want to just be spending money and that's not the problem and my service air bag light came on 6/29/2014 and its saying to "service air bag" and the ticking has gotten louder on the right hand side in the dashboard.
Going down highway go to adjust ac temp. And this loud tap tap tap tap starts sounding off in dash. Scared me caused me to jump and almost lose control of car. Took to Chevrolet dealer they replaced blend door actuator. I have had this replaced five differ. Times under warranty. 2015 81000 miles and it goes out again. I am now use to the sound and it does not scare me like before. I have talked to other Impala owners and thye have the exact same problem. They said it scared them too when it first happened.
