general problems of the 2010 Chevrolet Impala - part 2

Lately as I am driving a message pops up on the dash. It says service traction control, service stabilitrak and service brake assist. Also the abs light is on and the no traction light is on. The reason I am reporting this is because I am hearing people who have the same model but different year say they are the same problem.

Starting in Dec 2014 while driving at random speeds, the 2010 chevy Impala will jerk hard and then the traction control light will come on. Upon this happening, the reduce engine speed appears in the display as well as service traction control, and service stability. This has been happening with various speeds and various weather conditions. If you pull over and turn car off for about 5 minutes, it will start right back up and engine reduced will no longer be on the display.

I own a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. I started my car and it was sputtering and knocking which it has never done before. The message on my computer dispay read " reduced engine power " and " serivice traction control" I turned it off and let it sit for a moment and then upon restarting everything was back to normal. I have notice that same message prior to today but only briefly but until today had not experienced the sputtering and knocking. Through research I see that this is a common problem and a dangerous one to have while driving. It sounds like a much needed recall is in order before someone ends up seriously injured or possibly dead.

Vehicle was being driven and then the service traction control light came on and immediately the vehicle lost power steering and the whole instrument panel appeared to shut down. The engine was still running however I was unable to accelerate. After getting the vehicle to a stop I turned the car off and then tried restarting it. It would start but then immediately the engine would die.

The car experienced a reduction in power and the engine began making a "knocking" noise. The check engine light came on as well as a "reduced engine power, service traction control" alert.

Car reads stabilizing track and car begins to shake and has cut off. On going problem. In motion while driving. On highway or street.

Goodmorning I just would like to say this is my second vehicle from chevy but this vehical has really placed me in a bad bind. First the airbag light comes on and off for the passed month, next the key becomes stuck in the ignition then it went out had to replace that. Traction control light comeson comes over board with message saying," engine power is reduced then message states car shuting down " in the middle of driving . This last time I had my new born grandbaby in the car driving on expressway going 60speed limit car just shut offcars flying pass me I was really terrified for my safty and my grand child. This has occured off and on since last year. Last yeat I had taken it back to all star chevy in miss. They stated they couldn't find anything cost me a good penny when they stated that the warrenty was out. Now the car will not start. I have been replacing alot of electrical issues with this car for the last year but this time is the last time my grand baby and myself could have lost our life" now no car to get back and forth to work I have been really patient with chevy with this car I still have all my reciepts from aaa fixing this car I refused to spend any more money on this car. I need toknow if this compay will help me because a 2010 should not have this much problem.

Traction control light and engine reduce speed light came on and car started stutter and slow down on the highway. Replace throttle body twice and replace gas pedal sensor.

It had snowed overnight and I was driving 60 miles per hour going downhill when the traction control light and the engine light came on and then where the odometer reading is it said engine power reduced and then check traction control and check stabilizer. I did make it to work as the car shock as the car felt like it was going to die. I did let it sit all day while I was at work and then when I started it the engine light was still on and it ran ok. I took it across the street and parked it at the Chevrolet dealership and since it is Sunday they are not open and I will stop by in the morning to let them know what is wrong to have them check it out. We have had this car for a year and considering not owning another chevy.

Traction control, stabiltrak system engine light comes on reduced engine power, this has happen a lot over the couple months.

Driving about half mile from home, suddenly service engine light, service traction control and reduce engine power message turn on. Car start to lose power. After driving another 2 miles, went to a parking lot. Engine began rough. Park the car and went shopping. About 1 hr. Later the car start fine and running normal, except the check engine light still on . Park car in garage. Next day, start the car, check engine light, service traction control & reduce engine power message turn on. Back in/out garage and turn engine on/off 3 times. Engine is very rough. Back to garage. Next day. Start the car, engine ran normal with check engine light turn on. Drove the car around a circle and back to garage. Runs fine. Got into internet an found about a lot of complains(100s) on this car (2010 & earlier chevy impella) for the same problem, with report of dangerous incidence on the highway. I am afraid to use it again until it is fixed. I hope a recall should be made for the defect. This car is in garage, and is seldom use because I have 3 cars, and I am retired.

This has been happening at least once a week for the last 2 months. I go to start my car in the morning and it has the check engine light on and traction control light and is giving me messages of engine power is reduced, service traction control, service stabilitrak. The car still drives when this is on, but its really doggie, and shifts hard.

While driving at 30 mph the trak stabilization light came on with a warning that engine power was reduced. I stopped the car and shut off for about 5 minutes. When I restarted the car, the warnings came back on again. I was able to make it to my destination safely. When I got back in the car approximately 6 hours later, the car started fine with the only warning being the check engine light. I drove home and called my local repair to look at it. The next day when I started it there were no warning lights at all and my local dealer check the sensors and could not find anything wrong. This happened again about 30 days later and has continued to happen 4 times since then. Each time after 2-5 hours the car seems fine except for check engine light which goes out the next day.

My wife and I were traveling north on PA route 15. We were on speed control at 55 mph. An error signal appeared on the dash board saying service trakcontrol a few seconds later a signal said--- losing engine power. I was able to get to a somewhat narrow shoulder in a few seconds before the engine died. I could not start the car. A called aaa and after 45 minutes was towed to a garage in dillsburg. Just before the tow truck arrived I was able to start the car. The mechanic tried to determine the cause and could not. I decided to drive on to my destination in. Nj the error signals appeared once more but I was able to pull into a service station and sit. I restarted car and drove to my destination. The next day I went to "rt 46 Chevrolet"in NJ three days later a new accelerator pedal was installed and I was able to drive to my home in NY state. . It was very scary to lose power on a hwy at 55 mph and I wonder about trusting the car!!!!!.

The check engine light came in, then the stabilitrak light came on, then engine power reduced car stopped in the middle of traffic, could have been fatal. Waited car powered back on. A known issue in this model.

At first it was when backing up and turning sharp. The traction control message would come on and a grinding like sound from the front driver wheel area. Later it included the abs warning and would also occur after backing with turn and going forward at that moment. Now randomly when pulling out and the service air bag light comes on. Recently also the oil pressure low message and dummy light come on 3-4 times before stopping (and yes the oil pressure is good with correct oil, tires, pressure, brakes, sensors all check good). Best guess diagnostics is shorting in wiring harness that can not be located until it fails completely. However with grabbing with traction control when pulling out and air bag problems it is obvious this is a safety hazard.

My wife was driving on interstate and all of a sudden lights start flashing on dash board saying traction control, engine performance reduced and check engine light comes on. Car completely shuts down on major highway. Gm needs to do something!!!! before someone seriuosly gets hurt or worse. Went to auto shop and they said it is the accelerator pedal sensor gone bad already at 56,103 ? I just bought the car, and only had it for 1 year. I will never buy anything gm makes or recommended there vehicles to family or friends this is ridiculous. Someone needs to care about public safety because obviously they do not. Please do a recall and save a life !!!!!.

When turning on the air, there is a knocking noise on the the passenger side by the glove box. Sounds like the air door actuator. It was the same thing with my 2003 chevy Impala. Check on youtube. There more and more problems with this part. Just purchase this vehicle on July 24, 2013 at a dealership.

When I brought the car is started burning alot of gas . I didn't know the car have been recall by the dearlership gm corp. Until after a few months like Nov 10, 2014. When the local dealership bmg sold me the car ,, they didn't tell me of any defect regarding this car. It had to be balance and aligned all the time with tire,tire wheeler part broken , sterring wheel won't turn before craucking the car. Elec wiring needed fixing to stop the tricking in the dash board of the car. Air bags disemployed and when turning the stirring wheel a loud crick in front of the car of wheel.

While driving on the highway and accelerating to merge, the car felt as if it dropped a gear or two and the power was noticeably reduced. The service light on the dash came on and the error message "service stabilitytrac- service traction control" came across the dash. Now the car when it accelerates "jerks" as if it's having trouble making it to the next gear when moving between 20-30mph on the speedometer. The power in accelerating after 30mph is dramatically reduced the faster you wish to go.

While driving, reduce power in engine. Check stability trac, and lost acceleration. The car shut off in the middle of the freeway. Restared after a 10 minute wait. Check engine light was on, but now off. Happen from time to time.

Riding along at 70 mph taction control light and check engine light comes on. Computer says engine speed is reduced. Drove two more miles to pull over safely but car cut off and computer says engine start is disabled and car would not restart until I unhooked battery. Not real fun with rush hour in st. Lewis. Glad I was not ass ended.

I don't remember the exact date, but approximately 2 yrs ago, I began seeing the sequence of messages, "service traction control, service stabilitrak, engine power reduced," and the engine light comes on along with the traction control system light. The car speed was obviously reduced and I couldn't really accelerate. I took the car back to carmax and they said they couldn't find anything and did not know what I was talking about. It happens sporadically, but seemingly always on the interstate while I'm traveling around 65--70 mph. This is very dangerous, and I've been trying to research what needs to be fixed. I do not understand why this is not a recall item. I think this will be the last chevy I purchase!.

Stabilitrac light on with reduced engine power - tested and found code b 2138 replaced shorted gas pedal assembly. On April 9, 2010 the same problem occurred. The dealership charged me $463 for the first repair and now they are saying I must pay another $500 for a sensor. This is a major safety issue and a faulty system that should be under warranty and/or under gmac recall.

The 2010 Impala was at hwy speeds at approx 65mph. The traction control light came on and the check engine light and the message display was flashing traction control failure. The lights stayed on. It also said engine at reduced speeds . The traction control failed at hwy speeds which left me coasting to reduced speeds and then the car shut off at 20 mph with no power steering or braking. I was able to coast off the highway into a parking lot off the service road.

I have a low mileage vehicle. I have remained current on all of my routine maintenance. The car recently had the warnings: service traction control and engine power is reduced. I have looked on multiple outlets and saw that this is a common problem with this vehicle. The solution that the dealer gives is varied and coincidentally not covered under warranty.

I was driving on a rural road at 55 miles per hour in my 2010 Impala and it was just a normal activity no excessive turning or driving . My light came on and said to service traction control. Then my light said engine power has been reduced. I was trying to get to a safe place to pull off the road an my light came on again and it said it was disengaging the throttle and my car just quit. No power steeering no warning just quit and I barely got it off the road in time to keep me from crashing! the car wouldnt start for about ten minutes but finally I got it started and made it home. If I had been on the interstate this could have been tragic !.

In April 2011, I was driving on expressway and the check engine light came on and warning read reduce engine power, service traction control, service stabilitrac and then engine cut off and I coasted to shoulder of hwy. The car finally started back up after a few minutes. I had to buy $100 accelerator pedal position sensor. Now on June 28, 2013, only 2 years later, it is doing the same thing again so I have to buy another one. The warranty on it only lasted 12 months. I bought this car in October 2010 and this problem started in April 2011. This car is just 3 years old and from reading on the web, there are alot of Chevrolets having this problem. I'm reading about model years from 2007 with this same issue. Gm should have addressed this problem by now. I need help with this issue!!!!.
