The diagnostic revealed that there are 11 codes in the vehicle system. These codes ranged from passkey system failures to evap codes to transmission. Suspected failure of wiring harness altogether with possible bcm/cam failure as well. During battery test there was a regular drop in voltage while connected to the scanner reflecting a drain in the electrical system that could further be causing an issue. Codes are p0513 , p0523 , p0700 , p2122 , p0411, p0449 ,p0455. When driving stabilitrack, engine power reduced, and stabilitrack traction control. Sometimes the car shuts off while driving and the steering wheel will lock , I'd w ok old have to pull over on the side of the highway or street and pop the hood just to get the car started again.
My wiring on my passenger seat sensor is faulty! it sometimes detects randomly that someones there, when nobody is there and thus turns the airbags on and off constantly. I have to keep the passenger side seat belt buckled, otherwise it will mess up my sensors. I've had my airbags shut off and a notification appear before so it's quite scary and definitely a safety hazard. I know this is a known recall, but I believe since I have a "police package" a recall for my car was never initiated, even though it has the problem.
A recent problem with the rear window defogger has unfolded a problem with a wiring harness that powers the window. Gm never installed a fuse on the rear window defogger causing the wire to heat up and burn away the slot it sits in on the wire harness. Inspecting my wire harness, the heat from the wire has melted almost entirely through the connector which is very dangerous and likely to cause a fire on the passenger side of the car underneath the carpet and fuse panel.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the service air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on four separate occasions where it was diagnosed that the passenger side seat belt tensioner, and the driver and passenger side seat wiring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired three times, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. It was unknown if the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v507000 (air bags, electrical system). The failure mileage was 93,000.
At first it was when backing up and turning sharp. The traction control message would come on and a grinding like sound from the front driver wheel area. Later it included the abs warning and would also occur after backing with turn and going forward at that moment. Now randomly when pulling out and the service air bag light comes on. Recently also the oil pressure low message and dummy light come on 3-4 times before stopping (and yes the oil pressure is good with correct oil, tires, pressure, brakes, sensors all check good). Best guess diagnostics is shorting in wiring harness that can not be located until it fails completely. However with grabbing with traction control when pulling out and air bag problems it is obvious this is a safety hazard.
After parking the vehicle, I am unable to remove the key or turn the vehicle off so I cannot remove the key from the ignition. I found out that the wiring harness in the shifter had become worn and needed to be replaced. I replaced the harness and again not 1 year later I am having the same problem. I sent chevy an email and I am waiting for a reply.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle he was unable to take the key out or to turn the vehicle off. He eventually disconnected the battery. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that wiring in the shifter had become worn and would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The failure and current mileage was 47,000. Dt.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the traction control and the abs light illuminated. The dealer performed a diagnostic which located a failure code at the hub bearing wire and the wiring harness. The contact also stated the transmission was rebuilt twice and the power steering rack in pinion was also replaced however the power steering rack in pinion failure re occurred the power steering fluid was leaking. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000. Li.
When starting the vehicle the dash lights do not immediately respond. Adjustment to the light/dimmer control do not make the light come on. This will go on for about 30 seconds and then the dash lights will suddenly come on. It is not safe to drive after dark, you cannot see what gear you are in, your speed is not visible, nor any of the other dash lights. It is random and not reproducible for shop to see. This also occurred with our 2007 chevy Impala, progressing to finally no dash lights and resulted in $700 repair for faulty wiring in steering column. Should be looked at for root cause and addressed at factory before release. Please, very annoying, expensive, and will cause me to not purchase again.
