Two problems related to brake foundation components have been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet K1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Brakes continue to fail- selfadjusting rear brakes have never been self adjusting- never could be fixed by dealer causing unusually quick wear on front brake pads (pads replaced at least once a year)and multiple occurances of brake pedal going all the way to floor before stopping causing several near miss accidents.
While driving consumer stepped on brakes and without warning brake pedal went to the floor, resulting in vehicle not stopping. The cause for the brake to go to the floor was determined to be a faulty master cylinder, also the front brake rotors were out of round, and the rear brakes were not hitting drums all the way.
