Two problems related to front seat belt retractor have been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet K1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Front/rear seat belt retractor are plastic. This causes the plastic retractor casing to split, cutting into the seat belts when pulling back and forth. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
The passenger side seat belt had to be replaced. The belt was being replaced because it would not come out from the bottom mechanism. My mechanic told me that this is a common problem with chevys.
