Seven problems related to windshield wiper/washer motor have been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet K1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Vehicle is 1998 chevy c/k pick-up truck. During heavy rain while driving on highway, windshield wiper motor first started working erratically then failed.
Windsheid wipers work intermittantly. Requires reacning out of car and physically moving them to restart- if they work at all- so many complaints from so many people about this problem why hasn't something been done about it. Per chevy nothing is wrong with them.
1998 Chevrolet k-1500 p/u wiper motor intermittently stops and restarts. Contacted dealer and service dept. Claims there is no recall on my particular VIN #. They want over $100 to repair the defect.
While driving in inclement weather windshield wipers failed. This caused poor visibility to the driver. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that the windshield wiper module needed to be replaced.
Windshield wipers turned off during inclimate weather on a divided highway. This caused me juch stress and could have easily caused an wreck. After having wipers checked out I found that this is a known problem that has been recalled in previous years. I have a 1998 Chevrolet pickup and believe that Chevrolet should recall any years with the faulty circuit boards. This problem could easily result in the loss of life.
Windshield wipers began to fail occasionally around June 2001 . . Slowly started to fail more often. Now they barely ever work.
Recall 98 v 150 001/windshield wiper wiring: wipers work intermittently, this can result in inoperative wipers, reducing a driver's visibility, and increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Dealer was notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not covered under recall due to VIN.
