Chevrolet K1500 owners have reported 2 problems related to rear seat belt (under the seat belt category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
(1) no prior events leading to the failure
(2) the passenger rear seatbelt will only retract and is very hard to retrieve. My four (4) year old son was sitting in the seat and the belt started to tighten up and he was being constricted so much that he couldn't breathe. I noticed the event taking place and immediately stopped the vehicle and unbuckled him. (3) the seat belt is to be replaced at a whopping $250. 00 charge from the chevy dealership. The entire seat belt and retraction device needed replacement. We switched his seat to the other side. We thought maybe it was the belt being tangled up inside the retraction device, however the chevy dealership stated that it was a malfunctioning retractor and entire seat belt needs replaced.
