1 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 1998 Chevrolet K1500

Failure Date: 06/25/2006

: the contact stated while driving 70 mph, the rear tire on the driver side separated. There was a vibration and a loud noise seconds prior to the tire separation. Also, the truck skidded sideways, however control of the vehicle was regained and it was pulled to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was taken to the vendor of the tire to check the pressure and rotate the 4 tires prior to the incident. The contact had experienced 3 separate incidents of tire separation on the same type of tire. Both service and tire dealers were notified. The tire manufacturer recommended the tires should be inflated to 35 psi. Tire manufacturer: continental tire north America, inc. Brand: ameritrac SUV. Size: p265/70r16.

2 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 1996 Chevrolet K1500

Failure Date: 08/16/2003

While traveling on the highway at approx. 70mph, the tread on the rear driver side tire separated rapidly, resulting in complete destruction of the tire. After installing the spare and returning home, I inspected the other three tires which all have distinct cracks forming at the tread/sidewall corners. On one tire, I can actually see the steel belts between the cracks.

While driving the tire separated and chucks of rubber were coming off, the rear two separated and the front tires where starting to crack and separate (interco super swamper tsl). Nlm.

6 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2000 Chevrolet K1500

Failure Date: 08/10/2000

Firestone wilderness tire failure-sidewall blown out. Occurred while driving on highway and insured lost control. P265/75/r16 I was driving and suddenly there was a loud popping noise. I lost control of the truck. I ran off the road. I don't remember what I hit because it happened so fast. The passenger side of the truck was damaged. (claim# 40-2418-573).

7 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2000 Chevrolet K1500

Failure Date: 07/22/2000

Negotiating highway turn, vehicle failed to make turn, went over culvert and into ditch. Insured has firestone wilderness tires. Shop indicates severe misalignment. Insrd called, she rounded corner and went into ditch. She as the firestone wilderness tires. Tires did not blow but steel belts are showing thru the tires and she only has 13k miles on the veh. She is going to have them replaced and she will save the tires. Firestone says they are not the right size for the recall. Shop told her that there has been other people in with outher sizes and they have had same problems as recalls. Advised I wasnt sure if this would have anthing to do with loss but we could check into it. No injuries. Insrd is going to have front ires replaced and alignment done before she takes into shop for body damagest. I explained alignment usually gets done after repairs. She said if we don't pay for it, we don't she doesn't feel safe without if being done. (claim# 47-4189-145).

9 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 1996 Chevrolet K1500

Failure Date: 05/12/2000

While driving about 74 mph right rear tire (firestone dualer 256/16) experienced tread separation, causing consumer to lose control of vehicle and crash into guardrail head on, the passenger was thrown into drivers side sustaining injurie. , this was the third tire that had problems with.
