Windshield Wiper/washer Motor Problems of Chevrolet K1500

Vehicle is 1998 chevy c/k pick-up truck. During heavy rain while driving on highway, windshield wiper motor first started working erratically then failed.

Windsheid wipers work intermittantly. Requires reacning out of car and physically moving them to restart- if they work at all- so many complaints from so many people about this problem why hasn't something been done about it. Per chevy nothing is wrong with them.

When consumers vehicle gets wet the windshield wipers quit working. 1997 Chevrolet K1500 pickup with 33000 miles. Vehicle started experiencing this problem about six months ago with 32,000 miles on it. Consumer bought vehicle on 10-14 1997, vehicle was never in a wreck, nor had any body work been done on it. Consumer first noticed problem when he was washing vehicle in driveway and went to turn on the windshield wipers to find that they would not work. Consumer contacted manufacturer on July 20, 2005. Manufacturer stated that they could not find that this problem was covered by anything due to age of vehicle. Consumer said that he had heard that this was a problem on these vehicles with windshield wipers not working due to circuit board. He heard that vehicle could be fixed for free if fitted in a certain time frame. His vehicle did not fit in this time frame because it did not show when manufacturer was fixing this problem . Consumer just wanted this to be on record. He stated that manufacturer had a problem ,and he would hate for someone to loose his/her life because of it.

In rain storms or in good weather go to put the windshield wipers on and they just make a noise (like it is shorting out). It is not repeatable all the time. One minute they don't work, then the next minute they do! this condition happens once every so often. But when it is raining, it creates a hazardous condition.

1998 Chevrolet k-1500 p/u wiper motor intermittently stops and restarts. Contacted dealer and service dept. Claims there is no recall on my particular VIN #. They want over $100 to repair the defect.

While driving at highway speed in a rainstorm the windshield wipers failed without warning. A recall was issued, however the vehicle's VIN number is outside of the remedy scope. Please provide additional information.

My VIN is not included in this existing recall (per gm); however, my vehicle exhibits the same symptoms. I believe my vehicle should be included in this recall. While driving in the rain, the windshield wipers failed to turn on when engaged. This resulted in poor visibility. There was a windshield wiper recall 03v159000, but this vehicle was not involved due to VIN.

While driving in inclement weather windshield wipers failed. This caused poor visibility to the driver. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that the windshield wiper module needed to be replaced.

Massive sudden failure of windshield wiper system due to cracked solder joints on the wiper motor controller circuit board. Dealer refused to correct the dangerous situation at no charge. Chevrolet customer assistance center documented their denial of responsibility to repair the situation in my case file number 1-218373806, filed by latosha culpepper on 5/18/2004.

Intermittent windshield wiper operation, wipers fail to operate or stop operation while driving. This series/year/make/model should be added to the existing recall 03v-159.

Windshield wipers turned off during inclimate weather on a divided highway. This caused me juch stress and could have easily caused an wreck. After having wipers checked out I found that this is a known problem that has been recalled in previous years. I have a 1998 Chevrolet pickup and believe that Chevrolet should recall any years with the faulty circuit boards. This problem could easily result in the loss of life.

Windshield wiper motor will not work on occasion. Nearly wrecked last weekend when it stopped working in a hard rain.

While driving, windshield wipers will work intermittently. Dealer notified. *akconsumer researched and found several recalls pertaining to the same failure. Teh dealer will not acknowledge.

Windshield wipers began to fail occasionally around June 2001 . . Slowly started to fail more often. Now they barely ever work.

Windshield wipers work intermittently. Dealer/manufacturer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not covered under a recall. Feel free to provide any further information concerning this matter.

Contacted gm recall # 98043. First told no such recall. Now told my VIN not included. Over 71,000 recalls in canada. Many more vins not included in recall that have same problem.

Gm recall #98043 should cover this, however, VIN range does not include all possible units prone to failure. This is a widely known problem.

Windshield wiper works intermittently when it is geared at low pace. Same make and year of vehicles were recalled for windshield wiper controller board which shut windshield wipers off. Manufacturer advised consumer thatvehicle was not a part of recall due to VIN.

Windshield wipers and horn work intermittently. Saftey issue when the wipers won't work in inclement weather, and horn won't when needed. Also cruise control works intermittently. All three have wires going through the steering column, possibly linking the three into one bigger problem.

Recall 98 v 150 001/windshield wiper wiring: wipers work intermittently, this can result in inoperative wipers, reducing a driver's visibility, and increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Dealer was notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not covered under recall due to VIN.

Windshield wipers stopped while driving in rain. This could result in a dangerous situation. Dealer mentioned that this same part was replaced on vehicles that have been recalled.

Winshield wipers would stop at any time causing the drivers view to be obstructed. I contacted my dealer after reading your NHTSA campaign # 98v150001. They checked with GMC and said this did not apply to my vehicle. I am a master service technition (briggs and stratton) and I electronics are a hobby of mine. I removed the circut board and discovered the solder for 3 of the lugs was cracked. I resoldered the lugs and have had no other problems since. I beleve this problem to be a serious safety cocern and beleve gm should recall these vehicles also.

Wind wipers and washers don't work.

The windshield wiper motor failed, and the part was on back order.
