1 Service Brakes problem of the 1998 Chevrolet K2500

Failure Date: 10/11/2013

Brakes went out completely after depressing brake pedal. Had to leave the roadway into the bushes to avoid hitting stopped car in front of me. Upon inspection of the vehicle after bringing it home, noticed that the brakeline to the rear of the vehicle was completely rusted through. Similar lines did not show sign of corrosion but this one was completely deteriorated to the point of no repair.

2 Service Brakes problem of the 1997 Chevrolet K2500

Failure Date: 01/10/2012

I have a1997 Chevrolet 6. 5t diesel, I was driving home from work doing about 45 mph crossing a stop light and the truck just shut off for no reason and a semi was behind me and almost plowed in to the back of my truck but he was able to go around at the last second. I was on the freeway doing 70 mph and the truck did the same thing just shut off for no reason and a car almost hit me but was able to stop in time. On all occasions I lost all power to everything brakes, steering and engine power. This has happened several times before and after the two above. Found out that gm had put out an under the table recall of the pmd and injector pump on the 6. 5t diesel motor 12yr/100,000miles but did not publicly say anything. The other thing that I just can't get out of my head is what if I had my family with me going camping and towing my trailer when the incident happened going down a step mountain pass and the truck to shut off with no power to stop. I know that car makers have a % of accidents before they will look at recalls and deaths are included in those %'s and for gm to hide the recall is very dishonest.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 Chevrolet K2500

Failure Date: 11/30/2011

When trying to turn at an intersection, the brakes on my 2500hd with duramax diesel applied without driver using the pedal. This happened at every turn while trying to get to the repair shop. The shop replaced the factory sealed hydraulic booster assembly. After 1500 miles the problem has not recurred. We have contacted general motors, but since there was no recall, there is nothing they will do. This same condition happened at 30000 miles, but cleared up and no dealer could find a defect code and could not duplicate the problem. Hopefully, this does not happen again at high speed.

6 Service Brakes problem of the 1998 Chevrolet K2500

Failure Date: 11/15/2004

When applying brake pressure at low speeds the vehicle skids. It does stop but the brakes squeal. This causes the vehicle to fishtail in sandy or snowy conditions. The consumer took the vehicle to a local service shop, who noted there was rust on the entire brake system, including the adjusting pad, which literally fell apart upon inspection. There is a recall, but this vehicle is not included due to model year. The dealer said the damage was caused by road salt. The consumer has not had any repairs or corrections done. The consumer has not contacted gm/Chevrolet at this time regarding the brake problem.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2000 Chevrolet K2500

Failure Date: 09/01/2002

I have problems with my brakes and steering when I am braking and turning right or left. The power steering completely go out . I have to use all me strength to turn the steering wheel. Once you complete the turn and let off the brake the power steering comes back the steering wheel jerks back in place. I have replaced the booster, supply lines on brakes, power steering pump and supply lines and truck stills has same problem. The mechanics tell me that it is a design problem and Chevrolet will not recall and repair. All owners of these trucks need help as this is a very dangers problem. I have just seen on the news that Chevrolet is recalling a lot of vehicles and my model needs to be recalled and repaired also.
