One problem related to steering pinion shaft has been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet Lumina. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Nhtsa recall 03v527000 concernin steering gear bearing. A week after the lower pinion bearing was replaced the problem recurred while driving. Vehicle was towed to a garage for inspection, and mechanic determined that the lower pinion bearing needed to be replaced again.
