Three problems related to brake drum have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Malibu. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Application of brakes at all speeds causes vehicle to shudder and affects steering. Rotors and pads replaced at 17,000 miles. Problem reoccurred at 27,700 miles. Dealer ground rotors to solve problem and claimed it was normal wear and tear.
Auto taken to performance chev. East meadow, NY for repair invoice #cvcs28103. They state on the repair order that the loose part could have only come from the assembly line mistake. The loose bolt locked the rear wheel at highway speed, causing the car to veer off the highway.
First noticed at 5,500 miles car would vibrate or pulsate when brakes were applied. Dealer said front rotors were warped and replaced them. Problem repeated at 12,000 miles. Rotors replaced again. Problem repeated again at 17,500 miles. Rotors replaced again.
