Turn Signal problems of the 2000 Chevrolet Malibu

Tl- the contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph and making a turn, the turn signals lamps failed to respond when activated. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the failure cause unknown to the contact. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 03v327000(exterior lighting). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000. Jo.

The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, who stated that the bulb and the circuit board needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. My turning signals hasn't worked in about a year so my alternator pulley was completely off my car and I took my car to the dealership they took a look at everything that was wrong with my car and they said the hazard switch needed to be replaced so I paid 122. 00 then I was browsing the internet and I seen that the 2000 chevy Malibu had a recall on the hazard switch, to get that replaced plus the alternator pulley that had completely broke off and belt in all I paid 540. 00.

Turn signal works intermittently.

My turn signals fail to work. I have to commute an hour to school everyday on a crowded highway and I have almost got into several accidents because I have to merge with no blinkers. Called the dealership and said my car was not part of the recall, but I have the same problem and the same make and model of the recall. Very annoying, I don't have $300 to fix my blinkers.

The right and left signal turn lights fail to operate at intermittent times. I was nearly involved in several rear end crashes because of the problem. I have to push the emergency flasher button to operate the turn signals.

I purchased a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu in 06/2007 from a independent salesman. A few months later when I use my turn signals they will come on sometime then sometime they don't show after I turn them on. I check fuses and things everything is good. I am scared when I turn because I don't know if they are going to come on.

Turn signal does not work intermittently. When the turn signal does not work, I turn on the hazard flashers, then the turn signal works. My 1980 Chevrolet Malibu was manufactured October 1999, so I did not receive a recall pursuant to NHTSA #03v327000. When I contacted dealer, I was told they could not diagnose the problem unless I brought it in when the signal was not working. Since it is intermittent, that is impossible until it fails altogether. I assume the dealer was aware of the recall on models with a different manufacture date.

2000 Chevrolet Malibu. The turn signals are not working. It started out with them working part time, there is a recall on this problem, but this vehicle is not included due to VIN although it deals with the same problem that is mentioned in the recall. Has not had car diagnosed for this problem.

Directional signals are intermittently working. Consumer feels that this is safety issue.

Turn signals work within a 20 minute period, and one can only get to work when hitting the flashers. No noise or smell. Learned after talking to mechanic that hitting the flashers makes them work sometimes.

Trun signals do not work half the time, in order to make signals function you have to hit the hazard switch while driving.

The turn signals stop working for no reason. Sometimes turning off the engine and restarting it can make them work again or pulling the bottle/can holder out can help. Lately the fuel indicater and the a/c will not work when the car is started but may come on 2 or 3 blocks down the road. Also the check engine and or the service auto light may come on. The fuses have been checked and do not appear to be damaged but sometimes rotating them will cause the part not working to start working again. I think there may be an electrial problem in the panel behind the fuses to the left of the steering wheel. This problem has been occuring with no apparent pattern except for the use of the bottle/can holder.

Water was getting into the brake lights. This resulted in rust and the bulb blowing out. The stop signal and the turn signals would also get rusted. The consumer would have to change the bulbs every two to three months.

Turn signal failed intermittently. Recall 03v327000 was issued. However, this vehicle was not included in the recall due to VIN.

Failure of blinkers. Suddenly when driving down the road, I turned on my turn signal and it would not work. It is still not working. All it does is produce a high pitched buzz inside of my automobile. Luckily I live in a low traffic area and was not struck.

The turn signals don't work sometimes. The turn signals also failed in (December 01) when the vehicle had less than 36k miles. The dealer repaired the problem, however, the problem remained. The second time the problem occurred the dealer would not agree to repair the problem.

Turn signals quit working and required servicing by the dealer.

Consumer experienced problem after problem with 2000 Malibu. Interior workmanship falling apart, outside mirror paint fading, replaced fuel pump and other problems. The vehicle turn signal malfunctioned and the truck lid would open intermittently on it's own.

Consumer states the turn signals are not working properly in the vehicle, after about a week, every one or two days they will work one time and then the next day they will not work, the dealer has been unable to duplicate the consumers concern.

Turn signal performs erraticly going on/off while in use at various times. Dealership instructed owner to use hazard lights until part is replaced. Currently, hazard lights are inoperative. Please describe details.

While driving the turn signals malfunctioned, causing other drivers not to be aware when the vehicle was turning. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic could not duplicate the problem.

The dealer was contacted but they said they would do nothing as there was no formal recall at this time, so the consumer was giving a file number and was told that they would have to get repairs on their own. The consumer went and got the car repaired for $67. 38 from a service dealer.

Vehicle is experiencing a problem with the turn signals operating poorely. There is a recall on turn signal; however, this vehicle is not included under the recall because it fails to meet the manufacturing date by 5 months although it is experiencing the same problems.
