Brake Sensor problems of the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu

1 Brake Sensor problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2015

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu maxx. The contact received a notice for NHTSA campaign number: 14v153000 (steering) and the vehicle was repaired. Less than a month later, the torque sensor assembly and the eps unit failed. After having the vehicle repaired according to NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (service brakes), the vehicle began to feel as though the brakes were grabbing. The contact stated that it was difficult to accelerate from a complete stop and the brakes were smoking. The vehicle had not been back to the dealer. The contact felt that both recall repairs failed. The failure mileage was 45,500.

2 Brake Sensor problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2014

The traction control sensor light keeps going on and off. I'm not even sure that it is working at all I have a recall notice on this issue but once again no one seems to have any parts to correct the issue.

3 Brake Sensor problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2006

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while driving various speeds, the steering wheel seized and excessive force on the steering wheel was required. The service soon warning light illuminated prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis. The technician stated that the power steering sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received a notification for recall NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control), NHTSA campaign number: 14v153000 (steering) and NHTSA campaign number: 14v224000 (power train). However, the parts needed were unavailable to service the vehicle under the recall. The dealer was uncertain when the parts would be available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

4 Brake Sensor problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2004

At 34 miles on the car abs/traction control sensor in the wheel hub failed, causing several trouble lights to come on and a sound signal to indicate there was a problem. The owners manual noted that the car should be towed to the dealership.

5 Brake Sensor problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2004

When coming to a stop power steering failed, and the steering wheel locked up. Consumer had to restart the vehicle to stop. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. Ea04018_cat found the wheel position sensor not reading consistently. There was an intermittent grinding noise.
