Brake lights illuminate without the brake pedal being pushed; the brake lights do not illuminate when the pedal is pushed. ; difficulty moving the gear shifter out of the "park" positions without pushing the brake. Gm says there was never a recall, but a service bulletin was issued in regards to this problem.
Brake lights stay on all of the time except when foot is resting on the brake pedal. Have tried to change out the brake sensor and that doesn't seem to resolve the problem. Brake lights are one both in motion or when car is just sitting.
Tl the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. When the vehicle was started, the brake lights remained illuminated until the brake pedal was depressed. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as listed in NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 158,709.
Brake lights stay on.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu maxx. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 mph, another vehicle stop suddenly in front of the vehicle, the contact depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, the brake failed and the vehicle slide. The contact to avoid rear ending the other vehicle he shifted to the left. The abs, traction control and brake warning light illuminated. The contact coasted to the side of the road. The vehicle was able to drive. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed but a failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacture was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,200. Aw.
Brake lights illuminate when brake pedal is applied. Will go off when foot is taken off of pedal, but will go back on and stay on when pedal is not applied. This happens both when in neutral and in park and the car is stationary. I believe the problem is where increased resistance in the body control module (bcm) connection system can result in voltage fluctuations or intermittency in the brake apply sensor (bas) circuit that can cause brake lamp malfunction. The brake lamps illuminate without the brake pedal applied. Recall on this problem dated March 2017, # 13036. This recall problem and number does not show up in the NHTSA database.
Right after I bought the vehicle I was driving down a gravel road and my traction control, abs and brake light all came on at the same time and will not shut off. My traction control no longer works now.
Vehicle was already serviced under recall 13036 at dealer in michigan - now just over 1 year later the same issue is present - brake lights on without depressing peddle - putting on brake does not turn on brake lights - cruse control not working because brake lights are on, sometimes unable to shift out of park, etc - same problem - last recall was only a temporary fix in my case.
Have not been in wreck yet but many people are driving cars that are unsafe. When you are driving brake lights are on when you apply them they go off, recall is not fixing problem. Chevrolet keeps charging diagnostic testing when they know its a module that needs isometric paste reapplied every three months. The power steering goes out also and that's how you know the lights aren't working, other than people asking if you are riding the brakes.
In sept 2014, I had my 2006 Malibu repaired under gm recall 13036. At the end of June 2015, I noticed that my brake lights were malfunctioning. I took my car to a local mechanic for repair, which was the same work that was done for the recall. At the end of July 2015, the malfunction return again. I contacted chevy via email and phone, and was first told that there wasn't a recall for this problem. I called again and explain that I was having the problem described in recall 13036 (" these fluctuations can cause one or more of these conditions: the brake lights to illuminate without the brake pedal being pushed; the brake lights to not illuminate when the pedal is pushed"). I was then told that there was a recall, but that mine was "closed" since I had already had it done once. I am concerned that I will be rear-ended because of the malfunctioning brake lights, which is a problem that chevy/gm is aware of, having already issued a recall.
My brake light on my car keep popping on in off while driving as if am pushing on brake. The police pulled me over several times in asked me was I rideing my brakes I told him naw. He said I need 2call the deal ship because its an electric problem than.
End of July 2014, early morning, while driving 70mph on the interstate with clear dry conditions, my brakes began to pulse on their own and the traction control light began lighting up in correspondence with the brake pulse. . The cruise control shut itself off. The check engine light and brake light came on remain on and cruise control no longer works. This continues to happen throughout the entirety of my 60mile one way daily drive. I was notified of recall13036 which includes all of these issues. , I took the vehicle in for a scheduled service for this 12/12/14. After waiting more than 2 hours to get my vehicle back (without the recall work being done), I rescheduled for 12/16/14. After completing the recall work the vehicle was returned to me with all error codes cleared. Less than 3 miles down the road, all of the issues returned. No cruise control, pulsing brakes and t/c light, check engine light and brake light came on and remain on. I contacted the dealership and they told me that they simply added lubricant to connections and that all of these issues are not associated with the recall. I read the recall notice to them, it clearly states all of these issues are related to the recall. The dealership (pete harkness/morrison,IL) recommends that I bring it back in again and pay $90. 00 for a diagnostic check and then I will need to pay for any repairs needed.
Cruise control stopped working, remote start stopped working, brake lights come on when pedel is not pressed and go off when pedal is pressed. Vehicle shows stopping when driving and driving when stopping. Will get rear-ended same thing happened 3 years ago. Gm technical service bulletin #08-05-22-009c issued in 2008.
On 5/07/2014 I got in my car that morning to take my 4 children to school the car started and died 3 times. When it finally did start I couldn't get it out of park! while on the way to school I was nearly hit from behind because my brakes lights failed to function! the problems have gotten worse daily since then. When I would drive the car it would take off on its on, the cruise control no longer functions, I have to try at the minimum of 7 times to get it to crank!! now it is very unsafe for me to drive I can't even take my children to school my nieghbor has to take them and pick them up! I was finally sent a recall letter the last day of July 2014. In this recall are all the problems I am having. They say when called that they do not know when the parts to fix it will become available. What am I to do? I have a car I am paying fo and can not drive!! I can't afford to go buy a different car. I told them since they had no idea when parts would be in to just replace my car and the answer was no!! they also want me to pay to have it inspected. This is their fault not mine I should not have to pay for anything!!!.
I purchased this vehicle last year, 2012. Just recently the vehicle's brake lights have a mind of it's own. They randomly come on and stay on until the brake is pressed. They go off while the brake pedal is pressed but come back on within seconds of the pedal being released. Cruise control will not work during this issue as it thinks the brake has been activated. My son was almost rear-ended because of this issue. Had the connectors cleaned but the issue still continues to happen.
I have had to replace the headlights and brake lights repeatedly over the past year. When I turn the air conditioning off when I am already sitting, stopped, the car lunges forward and the brake has to be pressed further down in order to stop the car again.
Brake lights coming on without depressing brake pedal when driving car.
Cruise control went off. Tried to reset to no avail. Drove approximately 20 miles. Reset cruise control and it worked then stopped working. Stopped the car and checked the brake lights which were steady on. Pushed the brake hard and they went off when the pedal was released. Pushed the brakes again and the brake lights flashed off and on intermittently. Drove another 10 miles and the cruise control was working. A person following me stated my brake lights stayed on whether I was accelerating or stopping.
Brake lights would not come on, or would stay on. Speed control could be activated, but would kick off by itself. Would not pass inspection because agent said brake lights would not work. Took car to dealer but thier repairs did not fix car.
While driving vehicle I was being followed by my daughter who thought I was riding my brakes. It turns out that the brake lights are going off when the brakes are applied and coming on when brakes are released. This also affects the cruise control as it will not work when the brake lights come on. This is a very dangerous issue. People driving behind me don't know if I'm stopping or not! there are countless numbers of people with this same problem and the dealerships don't have the answer to fix it. This should be a recall if there ever was one!.
I have had problems with my power steering over the years. But this was the worst it has ever been. I was driving 55 mph on the highway. The roads were clear on this spring day. My traction control, brake light and check engine light came on. Then the power steering was chiming and the alert came on for that which effected my power steering. The instrument cluster was flashing on and off along with the gauges not working correctly. Then the instrument cluster went completely out. So the instrument cluster was replaced. A couple of weeks later, this all repeated again. So this time the ignition was replaced. After all that, the power steering still chimes and alerts still come on which makes it harder to steer. Then I have to stop the car, turn it off, wait and restart it. Then it is fine for a while. My mechanic says the only code that shows up is for the 14772 recall. But my car is not part of that recall since it was manufactured in January of 2006. Please do some research and expand the current recall to include all 2006-2007 Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu maxx vehicles. Repairs need to be done on these vehicles ASAP to any fatal or potential crashes.
Brake lights stay on when driving, but do not come on when applying the brakes.
I have a 06 chevy mailbu my brake lights comes on when I am driving so it looks like I am riding my brakes I have been pulled over becase of this when I googled it there was a bunch of people with 2006 mailbus with the same problem I have had the brake light switch replaced about 5 times and that is not the problem no one can seem to find the problem not even the chevy dealership I think there should be a recall on this because it is dangerious to drive with the brake lights on when you press the brake pedal the brake lights go out for about 10 seconds then come right back on.
Brakes light stay on all time, will not pass inspection. Chevy delear cannot fix.
This has been a good car for the most part great on gas but last week the brakes felt real hard to push so I replace with new brakes front and rear the old brakes looked almost new now the brake tail light come when you start the car and dont go off unless you depress them. Drivers think your stopping when your driving and when braking they cant tell because lights go out. Also for the past 3 years the power steering light comes on and you lose your steering control I wonder if and when someone has to die befoe gm recalls and fix the proplems.
Tl - the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that another driver noticed that the brake light remained illuminated while driving and stopped illuminating when the brakes were depressed. The vehicle was taken tot he dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000 and the current mileage was 20,000. Dr.
The brake lights come on while driving the vehicle under all conditions. The problem occurs repeatedly and without warning. The safety issue here is that drivers following behind are unable to tell if the brake lights are truly that brakes are being applied or just a phantom issue which could result in a rear-end collision. This issue may or may not be related to issues experienced with the cruise control of the vehicle either not engaging at all, or disengaging on their own. It may or may not also be related to brakes and rotors needing replacement more frequently than normal wear or problem experienced with the rear window defroster being unresponsive.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the brake lights illuminated without the brake pedal being depressed and dimmed when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 32,000.
While driving at night, another driver stopped to let me know that my brake lights were not working. Around this time I also noticed that my cruise control would stop working or not work at all. On several occassions after I first learned of the problem people following me would tell me that it looked like I was riding my brakes when I was not touching the brake pedal. When I would press the brakes they would go off. I tested this by backing up to my garage door and pressing the brakes. They come on when I lift my foot off the brake but go out when I press the pedal. Around this time I also noticed that the gear shifter would sometimes stick/not move even though I had my foot on the brake pedal. My local dealer replaced a computer module and that seemed to correct the problem for a while but the problem has since come back.
I have always had a brake light problem since I purchased the vehicle 1/23/2010. When driving the vehicle, the brake lights are on all the time, and when you press the brakes to stop , the brake lights go off. On lots of occasions, vehicles behind you tend to almost slam you in the rear end because your brake lights are off when you are stopped and they think you have let off the brakes to proceed. There have also been times when there are no tail lights at all. Also, there is an issue of shifting from park to drive. I have seen lots of complaints on the computer, but no recall that I can find. There seems to be some kind of electrical problem somewhere. This is a very dangerous situation and I would very much like to find a solution to the problem at the manufacturers expense.
Tl the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving various speeds, the brake lights illuminated without depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to james martin Chevrolet (6250 woodward Ave, detroit, mi 48202, (313) 444-8226) to be serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system, exterior lighting, vehicle speed control, electrical stability control), but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where it was determined that the warranty was expired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,000.
The brake lights on my 2006 chevy Malibu work almost completely opposite of what they should. Most of the time, I press the brake and the brake lights turn off, when the brake is released, within 10 seconds the brake lights come back on and remain steady on. When I go over bumps in the road, this may turn the brake lights on or off. Most of the time my brake lights are on, until the brakes are applied and the the lights usually turn off. I have adressed this issue to no avail from the dealer I bought the car from, as well as with Chevrolet. I even brought it to a Chevrolet delaer after taking advice from Chevrolet to do so, and they cannot duplicate the problem to fix it. Their computer says there is not a problem, but there is!!! I have video of it too. This is always what is told to me, however, the second I get my car back, the problem occurs for me. I think this is total bs.
