Had a recall repaired yet it still randomly my brake lamps still don’t function correctly.
While driving at night with the lights on, the rear taillights are bright all the time. When you press the brake pedal, the rear taillights go dim or completely dark. Brake lights are working opposite what they should be doing. Fixed once with local mechanic. Fixed second time at dealership with a 'technical service bulletin' and now it is having the same problem for third time.
I have a 2009 chevy Malibu that is under the NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000. The recall fix on this vehicle was performed but did not fix the issue and when contacting the local gm dealerships (multiple ones) I was told that the recall was closed on this vehicle and they refused to help at all. This is a very deadly issue the brake lights staying on until you press the brake pedal then they go out when stopped can cause a fatal accident these vehicles need to be properly fixed or repurchased by gm. This is a recurring issue with these vehicles.
Per gm july2014 recall 13036 this issue with the bcm has caused my rear window break lights to function the opposite of how they are to work. I continue to experience service esc and traction control messages while driving the car. This is the second issue I have had since the recall. Per the recall, it is for the owners safety. I cannot take this chance and I need to have gm revisit the original recall and note it has not resolved the issue for my car. I fear I will be hit from behind because the brake light is not illuminated. I drive children!! please look into why the break pedal position sensor is faulty.
As I'm driving down the road my vehicle will engage the brake without warning while I'm in a curve or turning and it's extremely dangerous. I had a 18 wheeler behind me and my car came to an abrupt stop without warning as I was getting onto the interstate.
When I am going down the road the vehicle comes to a complete stop in a curve sometimes and it's dangerous. Only the bright lights work on the vehicle. The esc activates and turns off a lot when you least expect it.
My 2009 Malibu has had the recall fixed a few years ago for the brake lights but they are currently turning on when I let off the brake peddle and turn off when I press the brake peddle but at random times. Everytime I drive I never know if my brake lights are on when they need to be or if I'm driving with no lights. My esc and traction control error keeps coming on and going away as well. Not sure if these issues are connected but started around the same time.
There is a recall that was preformed on my vehicle before I bought it for brake light issues NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000. The issue has come back I just bought the car. I called the dealer and they said it had been fixed in 2014 but it has started doing the same thing and they said that they can fix it but I will have to pay. I have tried to call the corporate gm office but keep getting sent back to the dealer near me.
My brake light illuminate while driving when not touched. . If I tap the brake they will turn off. They do not always come on when I press the brake . I have taken the vehicle to the shop and they did work on the brake system and it still does the same thing . I then found out there was a recall for 2009 chevy Malibus but for some reason my car does not fall under the category and I am unsure as to why considering I have the exact same issue as the recall states. This has continued for the past year (everytime I drive the car no matter how far or fast or how long ) and is getting worse. My drive to work daily is an hour and 15 minutes one way and it happens at least 30-40 times in one trip.

I was driving and the power steering light came on and steering got real hard to turn and now I have no steering power to drive and I'm scared to drive and also my car be in reverse and it went forward.
My electric power steering just went out while driving and my anti lock break lights came on, after researching this is a common issue in 09's in very dangerous, there were recalls on this but my VIN number is saying my car is not included, I find that hard to believe.
Esc turns off and on by itself while driving. Service power steering light comes on and the wheel is hard to turn I have to kill the car and restart it to get it to start working again. When I press my breaks the car jerks and the esc acvtive light comes on. The passenger side headlight goes in and out by itself I've replaced the bulb but it seems to be a wiring issue.
Lost power while driving on main road at 55 speed zone and car would only do 15 mph finally got to a store and got it stopped and steering was shaking and car shakes when I hit brakes.
"takata recall" recently while driving and in park, even when I am sitting at a red light my car my locks will lock and unlock without me pushing the buttons on the door, which are broken and the dealer would not fix it upon request. Also my car will stall at times because the door locks are motioning on their own. For some reason the electrical system in the car messed with the locks when the prior owner put in a auto start in the car, which I did not know of until the car was owned and it was'nt told to me either. I feel this car was a rough struggle since getting it and now its so hard to get fixed because of someone else's non knowledge before selling it.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that their power steering went bad. It was very hard for the contact ot make turns. They had to use more strength than usual to make a turn. The esv service light illuminated and the contact's spouse had changed the brake hubs more than twice. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic and was diagnosed. The test read that the esv light needed to be serviced and a new power steering system needed to be installed. Takata recall. The whole car appears to be having problems at once. We go and get a certain minor problem fix and the next things pops up. Having problems driving acceleration and breaking. Doesn't seem to be safe to drive.
High mount center stop light does not work drivers heated seat heater does not work.
My brake lights illuminate when the brake pedal is not pressed and fails to illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed. This issue is part of a previous recall and has not been repaired.
Service esc lights comes on and the service abs.
I am reporting two incidents! approximately 6 months ago my break lights starting turning on again (after the recall was fixed a year prior) while diving the vehicle. I would tap the breaks and the light would turn off (giving cars behind me the idea that I was breaking when I wasn't and when I was breaking to slow down, they couldn't tell). It still does this problem. Now as of 3/18/2017 while driving on the highway my "service esc power steering" light came on. It was very hard to steer off the highway or even get the vehicle home. As I research my vehicle online, these two issues were recalled back in 2014. I don't know if my vehicle was serviced for the power steering recall as I bought the vehicle on 12/26/2014. I do know that the break light recall was serviced because I took my vehicle in for the recall. I have an appointment tomorrow at the Chevrolet dealer, but I know I'm going to have to pay $1200 to $1600 for this repair. Something needs to be done about these recalls! someone needs to make sure they don't continue to happen every year or every other year going forward.
While in motion going to FL on rt 95 my speed control stopped working, what I didn't know until I got to FL. That my break lights were on all the time and when I would hit the breaks they would go off and then come back on. I took the car to a dealer in FL and they could not dublacate the problem. They did replace the third break light and after researching about the problem I told them to change the break peddle switch. I drove back from FL to PA. With no problems. I know there were recalls about the bcm and did receive other letters that if a break light problem like above would happen to take it to a dealer. This is a very dangerous problem. Sent reinversment papers tochev. But they sent me s letter telling me they would not pay for repairs.
My 2009 Malibu, which I purchased new in 2009: about 1&1/2 years ago it started running irregular, service esc-service traction messages came on car skidding emblem came on. I have had it to dealership where I bought it 3 times-each time they could find nothing wrong-took it to independent mechanic-he told me same thing. About a week ago I called general motors-first person I talked to said to call NHTSA that they couldn't do anything until a recall. Called NHTSA told me to call gm again and start a case: I called and talked to khadijah, who was very helpful and contacted another dealership about fixing my car. I took it to them; they replaced the brake lam switch thinking that would fix it-did not. Called gm again and wads told to take it back to dealership that there was nothing they could do as far as cost for fixing it was concerned. My car is just sitting idle because I am afraid to drive it more than a few miles-afraid it will stall out in traffic. I have looked this up on the internet hoping to get some information as to what is wrong. There are numerous people who are having this same problem with their Malibus. None of the dealerships seem to know what is wrong and owners are stuck with paying to have numerous things replaced that do not fix the problem. It is timer someone took responsibility for this flaw and issue a recall.
This is the Malibu hybrid with dynamic braking. This has happened twice: going up a hill, the engine seems to lose power, but I believe it is working against the brakes which are being applied and released rapidly. It starts bucking slightly then severely. When I reach the top, I put it in neutral and start coasting and the bucking stops. When I apply the brake to pull over and stop, it starts bucking like it did going up the hill. I get the car stopped, put it in park, turn the engine on, put it in reverse, back up a little, put it in drive, go forward a little, and pull out in traffic and continued about 100 miles to get home. Drove into a Chevrolet dealership and a very experienced hybrid tech said "never seen this before. " he ran the scanner and nothing showed up. It happens so infrequently that I doubt the technician will ever incur the problem if he were to rive the car, this is serious . . . Only my skillful handling of the incident got me off the road and out of the way although traffic was blowing by me. My guess is a problem in the dynamic braking (e. G when you take your foot off the gas, the "eco" light comes on and the generator on the braking system charges the 24 volt battery.
There have been multiple repairs done on this car because of recalls and potential recall items. I still owe $7,000 on this vehicle! I feel like the manufacturer owes me money as well as the dealership who fixed the recalled items and the items that are not yet in recall that need to be repaired are going to cause a complete accident if this is not handled promptly. I have two small children and organize volunteer work in my area and do not have the money to fix it. I feel like this is entitled to me and I should not have to have a faulty car when I am also paying on it. I can offer more details when you contact me.
