I bought my car used from a buy here pay here and maybe a month or so after buying my car I started noticing different little quirks here and there with my car, like if it's wet outside my brake lights either do not work or it looks like I am riding my breaks, if it's wet out my car hesitants while driving, my check air bags light is on, the traction control signal is on, my steering arm makes a very weird noise sometimes the list goes on and when I decided to check and see if my car had any recalls on it, to my discovery there is at least 4 one just from 2019 and all sounds so very much like what my car has been doing for months. I am hoping to receive some information back on what to do next.
I was stopped, went to accelerate, and sudden hard shift as it accelerated. After a few miles, lost all gears after 2nd gear. On interstate at time when lost gears & close to getting into major accident. Took it to asc certified mechanic to learn that the transmission failed, wiring from battery to started burned up,battery failurem alternator failed, and ecm failed as well. Repair cost approx $4600. 00. Service airbag light & check engine light on also & p0013 code. Looked up veh history, shows recalls on some of this were supposedly performed, but hard to believe. 6 speed transmission, so gm won't honor.
When driving car air bag light has flashed on and off on three separate occasions each time as soon as steering wheel move position the light goes out there is a recall for the make and model year but my VIN is not listed.
My air bag light keeps going off and coming on. My car wasn't included in the recall that happened at the beginning of the year but I fill as though it should of been.
Air bag light goes on and off. When off and I hit a bump it turns back on. I have children and I am scared of an emergency it will not function.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact received a notice regarding the wiring connector for the side air bags. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer stated that if a related warning indicator illuminated, then the vehicle would be serviced per the special coverage program. In addition, if there was no warning indicator illumination related to the failure, the contact would be responsible for the diagnostic fees to determine if the vehicle had a potential failure related to the special coverage program. The contact had not experienced a failure, but was concerned for his safety and the potential of a failure.
The brake lights illuminate without pressing on the brakes. I remember there being a recall before and I took my car in and it got fixed however it is doing it again. And my air bag light goes on and off all the time.
On March 1, 2017 at 28981 miles, the airbag light came on, (not the first time). The next day, the stability control and the abs lights both also came on. In both occasions the car was moving at about 40 mph on a city street. I took it to the dealer, they charged me $153 to get a diagnosis. They wanted another $850 to have it fixed. I took it to another shop that did it for $190. These were 2 separate problems, one was the airbag light (a connection under the front passenger seat), and the other was a sensor in the left front wheel (the stability/abs light).

The service airbag light appears and stays on when I start the car. The light never disappears.
I have repeatedly filed complaints with gm that my service air bag light stays on / my breaklight located in back window works opposite of what it is supposed to. I am notifing you in writing that gm has not done anything to help me. I guess if my air bag expolodes while im driving and I kill some folks in an accident I just want you to be aware.
The air bag light won't go off. Where I brought the car they came it was a senor and they thought they fixed it but the light is back on it comes on when I'm driving.
Air bag service system indicator light comes on and goes off. It says service air bag system. But it continues to do this off and on frequently.

While driving home from work on October 2016 3 random lights on my dashboard appeared(engine light, service airbag light, esc). They stayed on for about 2 hours then disappeared for the rest of the day. The following day, all three lights appeared and did not leave for 3 days, then disappeared. Then they reappeared for 2 days, then disappeared. The day after they disappeared, all lights appeared but the engine light. Now I only have esc and service airbag which comes on and off.

1 year ago my car flashed esc service traction control reduce engine power and reduced my spend to 40mph on a busy interstate! called gm stated what happen and I knew they had a recall but of course my cars VIN was not included in the recall. Brought the car to a local gm dealer ship to put on machine to see if any codes would show up nothing came up!!! I was told the message would have to be showing to service vehicle. Well here we are a year later with the car in the shop because my car reduces engine power without warning stalls and my esc service traction reduce engine power came on message board but did not stay after I turned key of course because it shut the car off after 2-5 minutes. I have video of it reading esc traction service but that does not help! car now needs a new timing chain and has metal in the oil! mind you of I wouldve been able to service the esc traction control could this all have been avoided? my car was in the shop maybe 6 months ago and was put on the machine to get codes minor codes came up and not the esc traction control reduce engine power. Called gm today and was told my milage played part in this but I doubt that only because at 68000 it flashed esc and shut off on me without warning so now they will contact the shop. They need to recall these vehicles it is a hazard to be on the road! we can not afford a new vehicle car this car was brand new but has been problem after problem ! headlights go out all the time airbag light stays on even after being fixed 3 times trunk does not open defroster thats a joke I could go on and on.
Since we bought the car on more than one ocassion the sunroof has leaked, the air bag light comes on when you move the passenger seat, and the third brake light in the window does not work.
Vehicle air bag light turns on and stays on intermediately. Movement of the passenger seat either by shaking or sliding will turn on/off the air bag light. Symptom reoccurs every weekly/biweekly over the past year. This appears to be a known problem by gm for the 2010 Malibu and is most likely related to air bag connector under the seat.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that headlights failed and only the high beams were working properly. Also, the contact mentioned that the air bag light continuously illuminated without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000.
After receiving our 2010 Chevrolet Malibu back from the Chevrolet dealership after them having it for 3 months to correct recall 13036 the "service air bag" message comes on and off several times a week. It wasn't doing this until recall 13036 was done and the car delivered back to us. I visited my local Chevrolet dealership and they stated there is no recall about this. Chevrolet has stated there is no known issues with air bag or sensor problems with my model. Gm has several tech bulletins out on the 'service air bag" warning issues, but no recalls. Below are the tech bulletins on air bag service known problems. Passenger air bag lights showing on and off change status while a passenger is sitting in the front passener seat.
1. The service light comes on indicating service traction and/or esc. It stays on until the engine is turned off and may stay off for some miles or some days. Then it comes on again while driving or standing at a red light. Now it comes on every day. I took it in several times, but it never stays on, therefore the service dealer doesn't find an issue. I have paid for parts to be replaced, but it has not fixed the issue. 2. Service air bag light comes on and off similar to the service traction control light. I have had the airbag fixed under recall previously and now it is happening again. When I start the engine I can hear a whistling sound as I assume the airbag disengages.
Service airbag indicator light on my 2010 chevy Malibu keeps coming on and going out.
The service airbag light keeps coming on. When I took it to the dealer they said the connector under the passenger seat was corroded. This is not covered because I have to many miles on the car. After doing some research I found this is a common problem. I don:t feel miles should count when its a safety feature. If my car was 10 or 15 yrs old I might agree but its only 3 yrs old. How does a connector corrode that fast?.
Takata recall-my air bag light has been on since shortly after I purchased the vehicle in Aug. 2011. I am terrified if I am in an accident they won't deploy and myself or a passenger may be seriously injured. My son and I were coming back home from denver and my car started acting strange like it was going to die and it sure did while we were almost out of eisenhower tunnel on the west end, we were almost rear ended by an 18 wheeler! thank god he made it around us safely and no accident occurred. I am sure I reported this already shortly after it happened and never received a response in any shape or form. I was able to get the car started after about ten minutes and drove home without any further problems, was shaking like a leaf all the way. . . . My son too. I have also had problems with the car shimmering when I apply the brake at 55-60 mph and it isn't just a little its sever and doesn't stop until I get back under that speed, I am afraid of loosing control. I do want to say I am very disappointed in the car, I bought it because I believed it would be a great vehicle to own and I was proud to drive it. . . . The Chevrolet emblem meant something to me. I doubt I would ever buy another one, I would be afraid to! it is so sad that the quality of products and the pride in the manufacturing of them has taken a back seat to profit. . . . . The recalls in this country are ridiculous! can't recall specifc date as to tunnel incident, its been a few years back, the other two problems have been happening since I purchased the vehicle in 2011.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the air bag light remained illuminated and activated the air bag warning beeping sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer a diagnostic was performed, which was unable to locate a failure code. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 54,000.
Service air bag light came on . Took car to dealer from which the car was purchased. Dealer said that the passenger air bag connector on the wire harness had backed out. They reconnected the terminal and it repaired the problem. Now 08/10/2013 service air bag light is back on. Now that the car is no longer under there bumper to bumper warranty chances are that they will charge me to repair the same problem. So I researched the problem online and it seems that I am not the only one with a 2010 Malibu that has this problem. To me this is a safety issue that chevy should recall but wont. Its sad that the car only has 18,000 miles at this time and I have to take the car back for the same safety issue and pay to have it repaired. These air bags are installed on these vehicles for safety. You would think that any issue with safety that the dealer should be held accountable.
I have a 2010 Malibu and recently took it too the dealer for a service air bag light and they informed me of a electrical problem that was supposed to be corrected under a recall, however now there saying I need to replace the driver side seat air bag and the passenger seat module. These air bags are a safety issue and there are many 2010 Malibu owners experiencing the same problems and the dealer wants to charge 1245. 87 for repairs and cannot say why the failure happened. A vehicle of this age should not have air bag failure. There needs to be some sort of investigation on to why these air bags and seat sensors are failing for no apparent reasons beside the poor or cheap quality of the products there installing. I think that gm needs to stand behind there cars and trucks and not brush off such a huge safety risk. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. Purchased vehicle at 30k miles at beginning of year and within the same year towards the end of the year upon start up the vehicle begin making a loud exhaust noise (several occassions). I took the vehicle into the dealersship on two seperate occassions and they were not able to diagnose it and gave the excuse the the older the vehicle gets the more apt it is to make noises and such. I'm a very educated young lady and I knew that statement to be just as false as two left shoes on a left and right foot and thus expressed that fact to the dealership who should be educated in the car that they are selling when it comes to body parts and likely problems. Needless to say, after hitting the 70k mileage mark the vehicle air bag light begin to come on and off and still does; furthermore vehicle upon start up of the engine would lag as if something was not catching and preventing the vehicle from starting up properly, thus I would have to hold the key turned longer than usual. I am not satisfied with this vehicle at all. At 70k miles this vehcile should still be running flawlessly as it is regularly maintained and tuned-up. Purchasing this vehicle was an epic fail. I am shocked that certain models and years have not been permanently recalled and replaced by a vehcile of owners choice from Chevrolet (needless to say I probably would not purchase another chevy car) for the headeache we have had to endure. I have an infant and a toddler and the uncertainty of vehicle operation on any given day at any given time on a practically new vehcile needs to be the least of my concerns!.
Air bag light goes off and on. This has been going on for several months. It should be covered under warranty. This is a known problem for this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that another individual was driving the vehicle when the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 46,000. The VIN was unavailable.
