general problems of the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu - part 2

The air bag service message appeared in the driver information center and the air bag service light came on. It went back off before I could get it to the dealer. Nevertheless I took it in to see what the problem was. The service department suggested I keep driving it to see if the light would come on and stay on so that they could get a code to diagnose. I asked about the previous recall to see if the manufacturer is responsible for this problem. I was told I would have to pay for any diagnosis and repairs since it was out of warranty. They did not acknowledge that this has been a historical problem for this model and that there are still issues with the air bags on this model. Since then the air bag service message continues to come on and then after a period of time,ranging from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours, goes back off. There was a recall on air bag connectors which we had completed on 5/25/2011. I am very uncomfortable driving the vehicle because the air bag service light comes on with no warning and I don't want to be in an accident and not have the air bags work.

Airbag not operating light, on right after warranty expired. Internet seems to show this is a problem with the Malibu and a possible issue.

Purchased car on June 28, 2012 and a week later the service air bag message started showing. Took the car to the chevy dealership and was told that other models have this issue. They are charging $500 to replace the wire harness on a two year old car. Since this error can cause the bag to accidentally inflate, this is a huge safety issue.

Multiple error messages appearing in dashboard electrical burning smell with dash computer giving out random error messages stating service airbag and service engine soon burned out my battery. Gear shift makes loud booming noise when putting in gear while driving car jolts and hesitates to shift gears. Chevrolet dealership refuses to check the car diagnostic without charging per module.

2010 Chevrolet Malibu. Consumer writes in regards to transmission malfunction. The consumer stated a recall was issued regarding the transmission. However, she never received a letter. Also, the air bag illuminated and the dealer attempted to fix the problem twice, with no resolution. The consumer also stated the seat would move while driving. She stated there was rust on the seat track. The dealer claimed the seat was working properly.

Brand new 2010 Chevrolet Malibu leaks when rains and it runs into my floorboard, airbags and wire harness causing car to short out. Most of the time the lights in dash won't work.

I bought my Malibu new in 2010, shortly atter the service esc and traction lighrts kept comming on, I took to shop but thsy acted like I was nuts, later I got a recall and took to shop, said was fixed bu two days later same situtation, this has been an ongoing issue for 5 years mot only those but seatbelt come on and service airbags comes on constantly, I wrote to chevy and all they did was sene me back to chevy where they charged me and guess what, the problem is occuring, I emailed chevy again months ago and have still no reply.

The airbag warning light is on my 2010 chevy Malibu I bought 2 months ago. A brand new car with 6 miles when I bought it. I took the car to the dealership since last week Tuesday and the car is still there. I was told that there was a problem with the airbag connector and that they are still waiting for the part.
