1 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2021

While driving the cruise control will be set and all of a sudden turn off. The gauges on the dash would sporatically jump up and down and sometimes flatline as if the car was off. When braking the cruise control would engage if my hand pressed the button llocated on the steering wheel causing the vehicle to speed up while trying to slow down. The brake lights would be on while driving without pressing the brakes and would turn on once brakes were pressed. Recall work was reported to be completed January 2015 but problems still persist. There is also a bulletin for special coverage that is limited to 150,000 miles which I don't recieve because my vehicle is over that mileage but the dangers of the vehicle still persist. These problems have been present since I purchased the car 2 or 3 years ago. The last incident happened just 2 days ago. I cantacted chevy and they said they couldn't cover it because of the miles.

2 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

Traction control light continues to come on. When this happens the brakes malfunction illuminates when I'm not pressing the brakes and goes out when I do. Disables cruise control. Replaced body control module 6 months ago to correct these issues still having the same problem very unsafe.

3 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2018

The brake light comes on when the brakes are not being depressed and goes off when it is being depressed. This disengages the cruise control and also the service esc light comes on when it happens. The 2014 recall was done by the dealer and yet the problem keeps occurring. There was an update to the recall and this was also done but has not fixed the problem. This issue seems to happen intermittently and randomly.

4 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2018

Service esc, service traction control, service air bags, brake lights on when pedal not pressed and not on when pedal is pressed and cruise control doesn't work periodically. These message appear off and on while driving. I have had the sensor under the brake pedal replaced twice now. Last time 14 months ago so no longer under warranty and needs replaced again.

5 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2018

My tail lights come on without pressing the pedal and they do not come on, when the pedal is pressed. Very, very close to being rear ended. All roads and at all speeds. Cruise control is also affected. Esc light has come on. Very dangerous situation. Nhtsa says there is a recall, Chevrolet says there is not.

6 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2017

While in motion, my 2010 chevy Malibu ltz has been intermittently giving me a "service traction" "esc off" notice and the cruise control is also working intermittently.

7 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2016

Repairs were completed a couple of years ago on this vehicle from recall id 14v252000, however, my vehicle has recently experienced the similar symptoms as described on the recall. The service traction, service esc and esc off warnings display on the dashboard unpredictably. This happens whether the vehicle is idling or in motion. When the warnings pop up the brake lights are illuminated without depressing the pedal, the brake lights turn off briefly when depressed, however, when the brake pedal is released, the brake lights come back on and remains on. Also when the warnings are displayed, the cruise control disengages, and I'm able to shift out of park without depressing the brake. Turning the key off resets the warnings, but the warnings and symptoms return again - sometimes immediately and other times it may take hours of driving. I'm concerned that the original recall repairs did not correct the problem.

8 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2016

In 2014, general motors' recall #13036 was serviced by Chevrolet dealership who said problem was corrected. In June 2016 the problem has reoccurred. While in motion the brake lights come on without pressing the brake peddle; the cruise control disengages; and disablement of traction control and electronic stability which could increase the risk of a crash. All occur while vehicle is in motion on city streets and highways.

9 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2016

Esc service light comes on intermittently, brake lights are illuminated 100 % of the time, and cruise control doesn't work. The dealer did the recall a year ago and now I have these issues. Replaced brake position and reprogram for $140 but didn't fix. Dealer now wants to replace abs modulator valve, bcm, and abs control module for 1450.

10 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2015

Brake lights were working in reverse after recall repairs were done so chevy charged me full price for diagnostics because they said that the recall repairs were already done, so there was nothing they could do. We replaced brake switch. A month later problem persisted, chevy dealership charged $50 for relearning brake position, even though that was all supposed to have been fixed in recall repairs. Brake lights are still not working properly and the traction control/esc light is on, and cruise control doesn't work. I am now taking it back to dealership and they are charging me an additional $50 just to take another look at it. I feel I shouldn't be charged for any of this since it all should have been taken care of during the repairs done for recall #: 14v252000. This is a dangerous manufacturing error that gm should be acknowledging and repairing at no cost to the owners. I know I cannot be the only one suffering this issue especially after reading numerous customer complaints online.

11 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2015

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the cruise control became inoperable and the traction control warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 49,604.

12 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

At 70 mph the cruise control shut off by itself and the service esc light illuminated on the dash. I also noticed the brake lights came on when foot was off the brake pedal and shut off when I depressed the brake pedal. This has happened intermittently in the past 2 weeks. I took car into turan-foley chevy dealership in gulfport, ms on 4/08/15 and they recommended replacing the bpp for $242. 25, which I had them complete. They also said the problem may be caused by the ebcm-bpmu which would cost over $1100. 00. The "service esc" light came on again on 4/09/15. I have not noticed any performance issues such as I have read in other forums regarding decreased power. Recall # 13036 was completed on car 10/14/14 by dantin Chevrolet which according to what I have read was supposed to fix the problems I am now having. I mentioned this to turan-foleys service department, but they said they cannot re-open a closed recall. I wonder how many times my brake lights have not worked properly as I average over 700 miles a week. This is an accident waiting to happen. Please help!.

13 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2015

Cruise control ramdomly works. When cruise control fails, third brake light and two rear brake lights illuminate. When brakes are applied then the three lights then go off. When cruise control fails the triangular tsc warning light also appears on the display and a typed message appears stating "traction control system off". Bottom line, when cruise controil fails, we drive with the brake lights illuminate and when braking, brake lights do not illuminate.

14 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. When the contact disengaged the cruise control, the vehicle accelerated abruptly and crashed into another vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 37,000.

15 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2014

I noticed while driving one morning my brake lights were illuminated, but I was not depressing the brakes. When I pushed the brake pedal, the brake lights went off. At this very same time when I tried to set the cruise control, it would not allow me to do so. This has been an on-again, off-again issue. Some days it works correctly but other days the same problem persists. I researched online and saw that there was a recall by gm for this exact problem, recall id# 14v252000, but when I called the dealership and they checked my VIN # they said that my car was not under the recall, and that they would have to take my car and see if it happens to them in order to fix it. I read the recall and it is exactly the issue that I am having. Please help and add mine, and I'm sure others, VIN#'s to this recall before something horrible happens!.

16 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2014

While on the highway the service traction control warning light came on as did the esc warning light. I tried to engage the cruise control but it would not work. We stopped at a rest area and turned the ignition off for about 20 minutes. We resumed our trip with the cruise control engaged and traveled for approx. 10 minutes. At that point the warning lights illuminated and the cruise control would not work. Every time we drive the car now, the warning lights now come on within a quater mile. I saw a recall for this same problem but was told my VIN number was not included. The car is at the dealers and will be repaired. Hopefully. I think my car and many others should be under a recall.

17 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, the brakes lights failed to illuminate when the brake pedal was depressed. In addition, the brake lights illuminated independently. The contact also experienced difficulty disengaging the cruise control and the esc warning indicator illuminated. The failures recurred sporadically. There was a recall related to the failures under NHTSA campaign id number 14v252000 (electrical system , electronic stability control , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic , vehicle speed control) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure was 36,000.

18 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

Cruise control fails to engage or even indicate that it is on when the cruise control button and set - buttons are applied. The upper rear brake lights fail to illuminate when the brakes are applied sometimes.

19 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

Brake lights come on when not pressing the brakes. Cruise control turns off without tapping the brakes, traction control says it needs to be serviced . I cycle power to the ignition switch and the problem goes away for a few minutes then comes back on. This can cause an accident as the lights turn off when the brake pedal is depressed .

20 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2013

Intermittent problem, occurring at least five times since date above. One or more of the following conditions noted: 1. Cruise control fails to engage, or stops engaging. Indicator light on (on/off wheel toggle switch), but no engage. 2. "service esc" and alternating "traction control" warning with alarm tone on speedo cluster. Orange warning triangle illuminated, also. 3. Brake lights constant on, with no foot on brake pedal. Or, brake lights can go off when brakes are applied. Confusing, possibly dangerous, to drivers immediately following. Once aware of this, fashioned a reflector fitting just behind the rear top mount brake light that reflects into my rear-view mirror. These problems can clear after car is stopped for a time (over 45 minutes) and may not appear again for another unknown interval. Already replaced (March 31, 2014) a brake position sensor switch ($186. 60 - my cost) at local selling Chevrolet dealership. This did nothing to fix the problem and when asked, dealer claimed no knowledge of any tsbs or of others having issues similar.

21 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2013

Driving down the highway and the cruise stopped working. Shortly after that happened the traction control indicator and abs light came on. A message appeared to have those items serviced. This lasted for the remainder of my 20 minute drive. I started the vehicle back up after sitting for several hours and the lights were off and no message. This happened 4 more times until December. I did not notice that the brake lights stayed on until I was driving at night. I pressed the brake pedal and the brake lights would go out. The brake lights would come back on shortly after I depressed the brake pedal. There were times when just the cruise control would stop working and the brake lights worked incorrectly.

22 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2013

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the cruise control failed to engage and the brake lights failed to operate intermittently. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 58,000. The current mileage was 58,200.

23 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2013

The cruise control in my vehicle has stopped working as of 8/15/13. On 8/14/13, the cruise control stopped working but then about 20 minutes or so later, it started working again. I have tried resetting the cruise control by turning the control on and off however this was unsuccessful. I have also been experiencing a problem with my dash lights going on and off. It happens at random times so there is no specific incidents that cause this to occur. This has been occurring for about a year now.

24 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2013

After the cruise control stopped working on my Malibu, I noticed that the brake lights were staying on while driving. The brake lights are on while driving normally, then when the brake peddle is pressed lightly the lights turn off. After the peddle is depressed quite a bit (while braking for stopping or to make a sharp turn) the brake lights will turn back on. After releasing the brakes all the way, the lights will turn off and then back on again a few seconds later. Every time the brake lights turn on, the cruise control stops working.

25 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2013

I went to leave one morning and my car would not go into gear. Only when I pressed the brake pedal completely to the floor would it finally move into drive. After driving it a day or two my service traction and my service esc lights have been coming on since July. And now today my cruise control stopped working an also my brake lights are not working correctly. When the car is in park they are off and will not come on. When the car is in drive they are on constantly.

26 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2013

Vehicle brake lights illuminate without applying the brakes. Cruise control fails to activate or disengages unexpectedly. Brake lights fail to illuminate while applying the brakes until approximately 2 seconds after applying the brakes.

27 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2013

Brake lamps intermittently flash or stay on without the brakes being applied and the cruise control disengages. The warning lights for electric stability control fault and traction control also display.

28 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

There was an intermittent which caused the esc and traction control lights to flash, the alarm to sound and the words that they were off plus the words traction control and esc service to come up. At the time the cruise control disengaged. This occurred several times. I brought the vehicle to the dealer on sept 16th and was told that I shouldn't be concerned about this intermittent. But it occurred again and then on 10/2/13 the warnings stayed n permanently for three days frightening my wife. I brought the vehicle in for service today and they said they fixed the problem using some dielectric grease.

29 Cruise Control problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2010

The dash board lights do not always come on when the car is first started and sometime they go off while driving. My son-in-law told me to pull over, shut off the motor, pump the foot feed 3 times and then restart the vehicle. That seems to work most of the time. But I should not have to do that. I have had the head lights go out at night when I hit a bump and then they came back on when I hit another bump. The cruise control does not always work. I received a notice that my taillights may not always work and to let them know if I have that problem. Well hell I am driving the car not running along behind it!! do I have to wait until someone rear-end me to find out that they don't work? not sure what kind of airbags I have in this vehicle but with history of electrical problems that may also be an issue. These problems have existed from the time the car was new. I have had it in to different shops to have it checked out and every time they tell me they think it is fixed. I am just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Is the competition for car makers so vicious that they need to rush production at the cost of customer safety to get vehicles out ahead of their competition? they continue to put more bells and whistles on these vehicles so they can charge us more up front and for continuous repairs. This is totally insane. Give me back my '57 chevy. Never had any of these safety issues with that honey!!!.
