1 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2019

I was having an issue with my third brake light at first it would go on an off then somedays not work at all. In order for my vehicle to pass texas inspection it needs to work all the time. I went to the dealership today because there was a recall but the recall didn't not cover the repair because it was a faulty circuit board in the tail light itself the recall covered the bcm. I've seen alot of complaints about this issue that I had. It's a very expressive repair about $640. I would assume since it's a safety issue it should be recalled as well.

2 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2019

In 2012, we were driving along and attempted to back into a parking spot, when the car refused to reverse. It started going slower than the usual speed limit, so I didn't know what to do. I pulled out to head home, but the car didn't get much speed, nor would it reverse at all. I had it towed and the transmission was burned out. I'd only had the car less than 30,000 miles. Chevrolet repaired or rebuilt the transmission. A year later, I was pulled over due to the tail lights not working. 2016 the car wouldn't pick up speed again. I had it towed and the transmission had burned out again. We got it rebuilt a second time and now the lights, wipers, door locks, and windows aren't working again either. Obviously there's a manufacturer issue that needs reviewing on this year Malibu.

3 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2017

Driver tail light goes in and out when it feels like it, and my seat belt lght comes on and dings even though I have my seat belt on. Also my traction control light comes on as well even though the roads are dry.

4 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2015

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving at approximately 35 mph at night, the tail lights would only illuminate when the vehicle was in motion. When the brake pedal was applied, the tail lights would deactivate. The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 14252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control), but the failed recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

5 Tail Light Switch problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2012

The brake lights will go on for no reason while I am pressing the gas and then when I press the brake, they will shut off. As well as when I turn on the hazards, my traction light will switch on and when I turn them off the light stays on saying "service traction" and then the left tail light blinker shorts out and pretends like it is going out and will blink rapidly. Then when the brake light issue is happening my cruise control will be faulty. There is a short or something happening with the wiring, it has been bad for a while now. . Read more...
