I was stopped, went to accelerate, and sudden hard shift as it accelerated. After a few miles, lost all gears after 2nd gear. On interstate at time when lost gears & close to getting into major accident. Took it to asc certified mechanic to learn that the transmission failed, wiring from battery to started burned up,battery failurem alternator failed, and ecm failed as well. Repair cost approx $4600. 00. Service airbag light & check engine light on also & p0013 code. Looked up veh history, shows recalls on some of this were supposedly performed, but hard to believe. 6 speed transmission, so gm won't honor.
Transmission failure, car will turn off on interstate or highway without warning, car will shut down while driving , roll backwards, won't accelerate. Had to get towed 3 times! after new transmission , sensors and fuel pump injector , the car is still doing the same thing ! this is a safety hazard and a lack of responsibility for defected products and price gauging mechanics ! problem is still existing. I see this car is under many recalls and the transmission was built in korea!.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. There were no warning indicators illuminated prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission failed. The dealer (Chevrolet 21, 1100 hellertown rd, bethlehem, PA 18015) was contacted, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,694.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. After a complete stop with the accelerator pedal depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, but could not be diagnosed due to no warning sensors. A day later, an unknown indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent auto shop where it was confirmed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The mechanic recommended the vehicle be taken to a transmission independent dealer. The contact called a local dealer (don brown Chevrolet, 2244 s kings highway blvd, st. Louis, mo, 63110) where it was determined that the vehicle was not under warranty. No further assistance was offered. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic and the transmission was rebuilt. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 8-3433690388. The dealer could not assist and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 65,505.
Transmission suddenly failed while driving on a street. Car only had 70,000 miles. Later discovered it was due to a broken gear shaped part of the transmission. Shows bad quality, should not fail at 70k miles.
Defective door latches. Both driver side front and back door problems since I purchased my 2010 Chevrolet Malibu back in 2012. Driver door would not open or not shut. Contacted gm twice and no assistance from gm. I purchased a aftermarket door latch and replaced the driver door latch in Jan 2018 and have no more problem since. Driver back door I have not been able to open since 2015 and because the back door wont open, there is no way to replace the latch. If a fire or accident happens there is no exit from drivers side back door. Without warning on a 7 year old vehicle, the transmission failed in Aug 2017 136000 miles. Expensive replacement.
I purchased a 2010 chevy Malibu on Monday June 28th at finnegan Chevrolet in houston texas. At the time of purchase it had 14 miles on the odometer. My family and I started to drive back home to kentucky and at about 300 miles on the unit, the speedometer started to act up with fluctuations and then dropped to 0, upon which we called on-star as an emergency and they checked the vehicle and they said we could continue to drive it and have it checked within 24 hours. We stopped for gas and restarted our travel when at 450 it started becoming worse. We checked again with on-star and they said it had 3 error singles but we should be able to make it back. At 491 miles, the transmission completely failed while driving at 75 miles and hour and almost created an accident but my son was able to bring the car to a stop. We didn't continue but had the car towed to gwatney chevy in jacksonville, ar. They next day we were told it was a computer malfunction and they road tested the car and it would make it to kentucky. I took over driving and just 5 miles down the road, lost complete drivetrain/transmission control at 72 miles per hour in a construction zone and almost had an accident again do to the drop in speed. This is two episodes with this vehicle in 24 hours and no assurance from the manufacture it wouldn't happen again. The car is back in gwatney chevy in jacksonville, ar.
