general problems of the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu - part 2

Second issue with brakes on 2016 chevy Malibu. First issue fixed in September 2020 by replacing vacuum pump and sensor. The pump failed and pieces of the pump break off and fall into the engine. The exact same issue happened again June 2021. The brakes are very hard and a loud thumping noise was coming from under the hood when you pressed the brakes. It was very hard to stop the car. I knew it was the same issue from September 2020. The vacuum pump was removed and returned to the dealership where the I purchased it from in September 2020 when the original part failed. The part I returned in June 2021 was still under warranty. When I returned it and told them it failed the exact same way in 2020, the man in parts said "they probably won't warranty the part again since it failed twice. So there's probably something else wrong with your car" really!!! I did notice that the part had been redesigned and the part that breaks off in the engine is no longer there. This proves Chevrolet knows this is an issue, but refuses to recall these vehicles. Thankfully I was on a country road, not driving fast when it failed this time. We live at the bottom of 2 hills, so I had to drive partially in the ditch to help the car slow down enough to safely pull into my driveway with no brakes.

Service stabilitrak and abs. It previously happened last year and the vehicle was in park. Since it's been happening when vehicle is at a slow crawl or in reverse. Sometimes the light will come on however the just of the times, when braking, the car will grind and stutter when braking.

Pressing on break lost breaking power. Was told by my mechanic break vacuum pump had issue. He specifically mentioned the issue he found documented.

Back in December of 2020, every time I stopped at a red light or brake (when coming to a stop in traffic) the car completely shuts off. I would get a warning that the car was in battery save mode and the stabilitrak light would come on. The morning of Jan. 12, 2021, it happened while driving on the interstate 322. I blocked rush hour traffic for about 20 minutes before the car started back up. While this was happing nothing on the car worked. It blow out cool air and the radio and windows didn't work. This is a big problem and is very dangerous. Not just for me and my family but other drivers on the road. I did take the car to be serviced unfortunately, they could not find anything wrong with the car. Instead of resting on the break in traffic, we put the car in park. You can see how that can be problematic. In addition to that, now it sound like some sort of liquid is passing through when I come to a stop/park. Fast forward to what has lead me to filing a vehicle safety complaint, this evening my son was driving on us 22 when he called me in a panic because while driving a warning displayed on the dash engin power reduced, traction light and engine light came on simultaneously. The speed reduced to about 20 and would not accelerate. I told him to put on the hazard lights and pull over02 as soon as it was safe. He did as I said as I waited on the phone with him. He turned the car off and let it rest for about 5 minutes. The car started back up without any problems. The traction light went off but the check engine light is still on. He made it home without any more incidents. As I stated above you can see how this is a serious problem. I am learning that I am not the only one with a chevy Malibu (2016 64,763 miles) with safety issues. This is unacceptable. I hope that no one has to lose their life before action is taking. They need to recall and give a refund.

Braking system error with the booster, pressure sensor, booster pump. Car is not braking correctly and causing driving issues along either not being able to brake correctly. When driving on the highway the car may nor may not stop in time to avoid a crash.

Vehicle purchased in September 2015 with 18 miles. 3 weeks later when brakes were pressed, they started making this grinding sound. The sound appeared occasionally every few months for a few seconds. Brake noise still occasionally occurring in 2019, dealerships said it's just moisture. Think it's something else. 3 weeks after purchase engine light comes on with code p2097, then light cuts off a few days later, dealer states just needs computer update. The engine light keeps coming on every few months reading the same code p2097. Receive a shift to park message when vehicle is in park and off, have to cut vehicle on and off until the message disappears. Took to dealership paid $300 to replace a sensor. Still experiencing the same problem every few weeks. The vehicle runs fine minus these reoccurring issues since purchased.

The accelerator pedal assembly was repaired however, the vacuum pump was not. The failure recurred with the brake pedal. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not subjected to a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

As I was driving from the va hospital in new orleans coming down the high rise bridge in dead traffic the car cut off the breaks got stiff it wouldnt start back up the engine power reduced light came on the stearing couldnt be controlled I thought I was going to die rolling out of control down the bridge thank god poeople moved out the way it could have been really bad I struggled to turn the stearing wheel so I wouldnt go of the side of the bridge and I finally rolled all the way down the bridge and got on the side I sat for alittle tried to start it the brakes was so stiff that it wouldnt start at first then I pushed hard and it started but the breaks didnt work and it would only go 20 to 30 miles an hour every time I hit the breaks the car would turn off I feared for my life because I had two more bridges to go over until I got home and been sitting at home no transpertation called chevy matt bowers and they told me I had to pay to have it towed plus pay 135. 00 dollars an hour for them to just look at im a disabled veteran I bought this brand new car thinking it was liable transpertation to get me back and forth to my doctors I bought this cxar brand new in 2016 and had nothing but problems with it im not a healthy man and I depend on this to get me to my doctors I get alittle money and didnt buy this car so it could break down this early in time I trusted them with my life and they told me I wouldnt have any problems getting to my doctors at the veterans hospital in new orleans.

Takata recall my car has completely shut off on me twice in traffic now, this is dangerous because you loose control of your steering and brake system luckily both times I was not going at a high speed and I let the car slow on it's own, but there are no error codes popping up, no type of warning at all that something is wrong with the car. Sometimes it won't start in the morning so at first I thought it was the battery or remote battery so I changed both it started working for about a week so I thought the issue was fixed but it still cuts off a few times a day, like today it wouldn't start and when I finally got it started my heat and air conditioning system would not work, other times my home screen will be completely black and no power to it. I hope whatever is going on with these vehicles are fixed soon because it is very scary and dangerous when this happens especially in the middle of traffic. Another thing when my car is stationary and it won't start I will push the push to start button you will here a clicking sound and the engine light will flash but the engine will not turn on once I do get it started I get the word stabiletrak, so I took my car to the chevy dealer once again and they are not able to find anything wrong with it.

�takata recall� I found 2 recalls that match the systems of my vehicle perfectly however when I put my VIN in. The recalls do not come up. Here are the recall numbers I am referring to. 51230, and 39440. When the engine power reduced happens usually on the highway only has happened a few times on the street. When braking a noice is coming from under the hood and the engine light comes on.

Engine failure. My car went completely out while driving home. The stabikitrak pop on, engine light pop on, brakes locked up making it hard for me to stop the car in traffic. I hope they are planning on doing something about this because I shouldn't have to be afraid for my life. This car is definitely not safe.

During the incident the driver indicated that the emergency brake did not operate and the stop/start button was pressed but did not turn the vehicle off. The vehcile was towed to the local dealer bale Chevrolet(13101 chnal pkwy, little rock ar. ) who diagnosed that the failure was caused by a failed engine vacuum that had broke and caused the braking system to fail. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacurer was notified of the failure(case 9-531-1269174) but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 95,000. Jft.

While driving on highway my "stabilitrak" light flashed on and I was unable to accelerate. I pulled over and while breaking the car was hopping. Turned the car off and back on and various lights came on (stabilitrak, check engine, traction control and steering assist). I attempted to start driving again and the car would not accelerate appropriately. Had it towed to dealership who couldn't find anything wrong with it because all the alerts had turned off.

Had a mobile mechanic run a diagnostic on it. Multiple issues came up. Everything from multiple breaks issues and even more engine issues. Had to towed to a chevy dealership near by. Break tech ran a diagnostic, said not breaks it's an engine issue. Engine tech says it �maybe� timing or cam shaft. $2500 on a maybe, best they can tell from the diagnostic. From all the reviews I have read about this very same issue and the guessing game at owners expense. None of these have fixed the issues. While reading the reviews, I read 3 people have died from this very same issue. In addition gm has remove any and all warranty on this vehicle above the 36,000 miles. Gm will not take any responsibility for the chevy Malibu death trap which they are fully aware of. No recall, no repair support for the dealership that now is involved with this worthless product. My question for gm is how many people have to die before they will do anything about it? I say to the ceo of gm. I want one of your family members to have my car as there daily drive. But wait the engine will not even turn over. Nothing but a paperweight now. To all head honchos at gm I have large car parts the need to be placed were the sun don't shine. Take responsibility for your product!!! I will inform every website, social media and any forum possible about your products and your complete lack of ethics.

Brakes or esc complaint I am a grandmother who drives her granddaughters to and from school. As I and my granddaughter exited the freeway onto the service road, I pressed the brake pedal and slowed down. After going another 50 feet I pressed the brake to stop at the traffic light and the pedal went all the way to the floor board. . Quickly I pressed the pedal again and it went to the floor for the second time. The third time I pressed the pedal as hard as I could into the floorboard. There was a vibrating sound. Next, I pressed the pedal for the fourth time and felt the normal amount of resistance and it performed properly and stopped the car. I drove a few more blocks to my destination going 10 miles an hour with my hazard lights on. I called my road side assistance service to take the car to the dealership. The next day I explained the experience to the service department. They drove it and said they couldn't duplicate the experience. They drove the car several times but then said they could not find anything wrong so they were ready to give it back to me. I said I'm not ready to take it back and that they should be glad they didn't duplicate my experience, because, they might have hurt someone. . I called gm and they called the dealership. The service manager called me and said he drove it and it performed normally. I asked him to consult with the factory or try to get a brake specialist to look at it. And I told him I will not drive the car another inch until they know what happened and fix it. They did not give me a loner car so I have rented a car at $50 a day. I hope to get this resolved.

When shifter was placed into park in a public parking lot, the vehicle displayed a "shift to park" error and would not turn off. The issue continued despite two dealer repair attempts. I have been unable to shut off the vehicle in my garage, in my driveway, and at numerous public parking lots. Later, the vehicle smacked the brakes without driver input while I was driving on the highway and displayed a "stabilitrak" error. When I pulled into a parking lot and shifted to park, it again displayed the "shift to park" error and would not turn off. Eventually I was able to turn off the vehicle. When I restarted it, it displayed "stabilitrak" error and "power steering" error. I disabled the stabilitrak system in order to get back on the road because I was in a remote area with no place to get the car fixed. While driving, the vehicle would turn the stabilitrak system back on and smack the brakes. A few seconds later, the speedometer and tachometer dropped to zero while the vehicle was still moving on the highway, and the climate control system stopped working. This issue continued to repeat itself while I was driving the vehicle to the dealership for repair.

Stablitrack not working, abs not working and steering assistance not working intermittently. Car had only 21220 miles on it. Dealer says it has an internal malfunction in the electronic control module, code c056d. Problem occurred while in motion in a straight line on a city street at about 35 miles per hour and then verified while vehicle was stationary. The steering assistance problem happen while stationary, then verified while in motion turning on a city street at a slow speed. Verification was in accordance to instructions in the owners manual.

The first incident happen on 2/27/2019. I was existing the highway on highway 75 in kennesaw, georgia going north bound and coming off on barrett parkway. As I exited the highway my brakes was stuck and my brakes wouldn't press. I panicked because I was going at least 60 mph trying to slow down to get on the exit with semi trucks in the front and in the back, because I was a little skilled with cars I down shifted my car and stepped on my emergency brakes and ran the car off the road into the grass. I towed the car to my mechanic in hiram, GA. (donnie's automotive) to have him work on the issue as I wasn't sure what was going on. I got my car back on 3/1/2019. Now the next incident happen on 8/16/21 my engine decreased and my car wouldn't accelerate more than 40 mph. Took it to my mechanic again and it was the throttle sensor. Now the most recent incident happen 6/12/21 where my brakes failed to pressed again and bc I was aware of this incident happening in 2019 I did the same thing and ran my car off the road. My kids were scared. Now all these issues have been a issue with chevy and they even had a class action lawsuit against them for the throttle sensor issue. My car wasn't part of the recall but my car has suffered the same issues they've know about for years. I called thornton road chevy and they told me it's nothing they can do. I've also emailed the ceo and all others for chevy. I want chevy to repair my car before this car kills me or my kids.

My car stabilitrak comes on every other 20 mins when driving. If I try to accelerate my cars check engine light will come on and then say engine power reduced almost stopping my vehicle on the interstate I can only drive it in town under 40 mph. Diagnostic showed nothing and of course no recalls but every recall chevy has with the Malibu fits my model. Very disappointing. It has become very dangerous. Today I was headed to pick up my daughter from daycare and my brake pedal became very stiff and I could not stop causing me to roll through an intersection thankfully it was a green light and let the car roll until it stopped. I was terrified. I have not had the car long and it is a headache.

I was driving northbound on I-435 when avoiding an accident. I pressed my brake as hard as I could. My vehicle did not stop so to avoid causing a serious accident I went off road in the center of the two highways. After hitting the guardrail to stop my vehicle from falling inbetween the overpass. My airbags did not deploy . I feel some concern after having my breaks checked and told they were good. Then if I'm at stop and I release the break for my car to start back up. I give it a second and then press the peddle it does not move which has almost caused me to hold up traffic or almost being hit when vehicles were at safe distances.

I've had problems with the off and on ignition push button since last year. I have to push and start several time in order to cut off to lock my doors and turn the radio off. Brand new 2016 Malibu 30 miles off the lot and 100% of the time the car bucks when braking. Highway, only when having to slow down enough to hit the lower gears. I feel that this issue is also wearing away the brakes faster than usual. This car has a checkered history with recalls and my model year even had transmission issues and yet I'm told to deal with it. I have been sure to make a paper trail of bringing it in since I drove it off the lot as well as every time I've spoken off the books about it to chevy employees. I know there is a problem with this vehicle as well as others. It seems as if the timing of the downshift even could be the issue but I don't know and they won't even look at it unless the check engine light comes on or a recall is issued. And when the car bucks sometimes the brakes don't have a tight enough grip and causes the car to pounce an inch or two.

When braking to stop at light sometimes my car will jerk like it is trying to take off. Will have to push hard on the brake pedal to get it to stop.
