1 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact was driving at 25 mph when the vehicle exhibited a popping noise at the front end and the wheels wobbled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the intermediate steering shaft. The dealer replaced the steering shaft and the tires were replaced several times, but the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer for further inspection. The dealer performed a second diagnostic that located the failure as the front lower ball joint, tie rods and the steering column having to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. 2 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 07/21/2008

Car made clunking noise when turning right and or left find that the universal joint on steering shaft was rusted so I sprayed it down with some free all penetrating oil, has gone away. There is also a clunkng noise going over bumps lifted the car by the body and shook wheels found that the lower ball joints have play in them.

3 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 02/08/2004

I have replaced my entire braking system at least 4 times. I was told by Chevrolet that due to a problem with the ball joints, the brake rotors would wear unusually fast. I am currently waiting to see if with over $4,000 spent in parts, service, and labor, the problem is solved.

4 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 09/01/2001

Vehicle was going 25mph on a straight road. There was no warning and left front end dropped. Left tire blewout, and vehicle skidded/ hit the curve. Lower ball joint broke, causing rear end to spin around. Manufacturer had a TSB mentioning problem ,but will not cover the problem within warranty agreement.

While driving, consumer heard a popping noise. Took vehicle in for service and mechanic stated that the right and left lower ball joints needed to be replaced. Jg.
