Front Suspension Strut Problems of Chevrolet Malibu

: the contact stated while making a right turn at an intersection, there was a rubbing sound coming from the right front wheel. A private mechanic removed the right front wheel, and noted that the spring from the macpherson strut had detached and dug a groove into the sidewall. The mechanic replaced the strut.

2002 Chevrolet Malibu 6 cylinder. Front struts were not functioning properly and required replacement (at my cost). Car mileage was appx 23k. My neighbor has a 2004 Malibu with 18k. Front struts were defective and replaced by dealer. My mechanic expressed surprised that struts should "go bad" on cars with such relatively low mileage.

Car had been driven from ohio to florida for vacation. Car was driven out of living complex when black smoke & burning rubber was noticed,drove back into complex & exited car when the tire on front passenger side blew. Called aaa to have vehicle taken to an auto repair shop.

Consumer stated that while driving vehicle at 40 mph, a creaking noise was heard under vehicle. Upon taking vehicle to dealer it was found that front strut was defective. Front strut had too much space between the strut and the wheel. Dealer was repairing the problem free of charge.

Right strut mount failed, causing a squeaky noise.

Broken left front strut and spring. Just driving down the freeway the strut broke. The service dealer couldn't believe that happened. The left front strut, spring and strut bearing had to be replaced on a car with only 50,182 miles on it. Again I called gm zone they told me to send copies of all my bills and I have not ever heard anything else.

Front end rattles. Took vehicle to dealer, and dealer indicated that strut mounts were bad. Called GMC to check on recall.
