Water seeps inside car entering back window. Back leak suspected. Check engine light comes on and off several times a week. Purchased car with less that 5 miles and purchased extended warranty. I'm getting the run around from both warranty and dealer.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact detected mold on the rear seats, in the trunk, on the front passenger and driver seats, and the vehicle floor. The contact mentioned that there was a manufacturer communication regarding the center high mount third brake light, which caused water to enter the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to hessert Chevrolet (6301 e roosevelt blvd, philadelphia, PA 19149, 877-338-7630) and the contact was informed that the third brake light needed to be replaced. The contact drove the vehicle to sandy sansing Chevrolet (6200 pensacola boulevard, pensacola, florida 32505) where it was diagnosed that the brake light on the rear windshield was allowing water to enter the cabin of the vehicle. The dealer also found that the antenna was leaking. The antenna was repaired but, a week later, a mildew odor developed, emerging from the trunk area. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer, but they refused to repair the third brake light because they had already repaired the antenna. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

I had an incident where the after the car was properly parked, the car settled and the front bumper caught the parking stopped. I immediately returned the car, and learned from the hertz agent that it was the undercarriage. I understand from other complaints that the car dealer will not even cover the defective flimsy front bumper lip. The other complaints are regarding the poor assembly quality. . . . Updated 11-06-13.
I purchased this vehicle in 2006 with 17,000 miles at the carmax superstore in naperville illinois and have had several serious issues since. The leaking sunroof with the innumerable failed attempts at repair. The leak has never been resolved and I have resorted to covering the vehicle with a tarp during inclement weather. The constant clicking noise in the steering when moving the steering wheel back and forth and the severe stiffness in the steering wheel when curb side parking between parked vehicles. The intermittent ignition failure, the vehicle will not turn over unless you depress the accelerator slightly. There were countless futile attempts at repair for all these defects through out the years of warranty and extended warranty coverage. The failed attempts of correctly diagnosing and properly repairing these defects by the englewwood auto group in englewood new jersey have left me unsatisfied and super frustrated. Today I am writing because the operators seat has now tilted to the right and is leaning against the center console. There was nothing of significance that occurred while driving that immediately alerted me of this problem, I was simply adjusting the seat when I noticed that the seat was rubbing against the center console. Upon inspecting underneath the seat I observed that the right rear corner does not rise when engaging the electric seat controls. The angle of the lean is so bad that it affects my posture and pains my lower back. I am also afraid that the seat will completely collapse while I am driving. When the seat is lowered all the way down it does level to its acceptable norm, but at 5 feet 4 inches tall I cannot operate safely that low to the floor. For a vehicle that is driven on average once a week it is plagued with some serious manufacturer defects that the dealerships' service department is unable or unwilling to repair.

Driving 65 mph on interstate and service esc and all other lights came on and engine died. I had to maneuver 3 lanes to the right in rush hour to get to the breakdown lane without power steering. "faulty alternator" ruled to be at fault. No warning that morning prior to event. Two days before the battery light stayed on a little longer (5 minutes) than usual and then went off. It never came on again to warn of something wrong. I called Chevrolet and the customer service was indifferent so I filed a complaint with my state's bbb as this is the third, and most severe issue, I have had with this car and I have not had it two years quite yet. I did receive a call back from gm. They are working on their response to this life threatening event as well as the other problems, which were the exhaust solenoid died ( service engine light came on) and the driver's side door handle covering came off exposing the sharp metal it is made of).

We bought this car 4 yrs ago in Aug 2008 at only a few yrs old we were very optimistic that the $ we were spending on it would be worth the less upkeep than that of the 1994 crown vic that we traded in (& my husbands 78 olds that has always required more work than it put out since he purchased it when we met back in 06). Since it was a few yrs old we thought that even though there was no warranty on our new "used" car, we would be ok. We were wrong. The first problem we noticed was the alignment which makes the car shake/vibrate at speeds 60+ & our first vacation we took it on which we only drove 4-5 hrs there & we ended up with 2 flat tires on the way. Then the headlights & blinkers had to be replaced (full units) bc both of them kept giving out & the bulbs weren't the problems & I kept getting traffic tickets bc I wasn't always aware when one would go out. Our 2 biggest problems to date have been our fuel sensor/electrical problems which quit working after 1 yr & I have run out of gas 10 times bc it isn't easy to keep up with miles/dates & I have kids so filling up every day isn't easy either as well as the locks/buttons on the drivers door that do not work & I have to open my trunk with a key & had to pay $ to get auto lock so that I don't have to manually lock the doors w/ the keys & the transmission/motor we had to pay $2750 to replace bc the last one completely gave out resulting in the car not being able to run whatsoever & my husband having to literally push my neutral car with his bc we didn't have the $ at the time to fix it. . Besides these problems there are the seats (plastic panels) falling/cracking apart, we had to replace the windshield bc anytime it rained our seats would be completely soaked. . & many other problems I still deal with. Keep in mind for the 4 yrs I have owned this car I haven't wrecked it & my husband keeps it up (changes oil, brakes, etc).

My car was flooded from underneath the dash board of the front side of dashboard. My carpet from front to back got wet and had a defective rim.
I have own my 2002 Malibu since December 2001 have changed the a/c control switch 3 times. It is at the dealership again today for the same reason. After only two months since the last new switch was installed, the a/c will change from blowing out air conditioning to just blowing air. My husband tells me that this last time the air circulation changed from inside air to outside air. This was a great vehicle, but an extremely annoying problem. Is there some kind of defect that we are not aware off?.

I own a 2002 chevy Malibu, the left rear light assembly leaks water, consequently leading to the erosion of the assembly and causing it to need replacing. This was a cost of approximately $200, and no guarantee that it would not continue to leak since the seal around the assembly is worn.
Bubbling and rust on the back panel of the car where the gas cover and tank is. It has rust and all kinds of bubbles only on that panel.
The driver information center panel of my Chevrolet 2005 Malibu is not readable whenever sunlight is present. The panel is too dimly lit to be read by the driver until you shade the panel with your hand or a map and place your face directly in front of it. This cannot be done while driving. The seventeen warning messages that can be generated by the vehicle computer can only be provided to the driver by the dic panel display. Five of these warnings are critical to safety. After sundown, the vehicle sensor activates the headlights and activates a rheostat on the dash which allows the driver to set dic panel light intensity anywhere he or she wishes so readability is no longer a problem.
Normal drving conditions. He entire visor and its hinges on driver's side spontaniously falls off. The end of hinge has sharp plastic spikes which injured the driver.
