The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu equipped with four hankook optimo h727 tires, size: 225/50r/18 (na). Upon inspection, it was discovered that the front driver side tire experienced tread cracking and tread surface dilapidation of the inner edge. There was also exposed steel belts and evidence of bubbling. The failure was reported to the dealer (apple bees automotive located in fox point, WI) where it was diagnosed that the tire appeared to be defective. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The tire failure mileage was 40,000 and vehicle failure mileage was 150,000.

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle has firestone affinity touring tires, size p215-60r15. The rear driver side tire had a nail in it and it was repaired. He was informed that the tire had tread separation and could not be repaired. The dot number was unavailable. The current and failure mileages were 17,800.

My 2000 Chevrolet Malibu had 37,500 miles on it when I noticed that the firestone affinity p21560r15 tires were cracking. The deep grooves between the treads had cracks and the shoulder of the tire had a web of cracks. There was still a lot of tread left on the tires. I have never seen this occur on any tires I have owned in my 40 years of driving. One local tire store advised me that this problem is common in affinity tires because firestone doesn't put enough moisture into the compound thereby shortening the life of the tire.

Purchased a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu 07-04-03 with 4500 miles. Noticed the tires had cracks between the tread and sidewalls. Dealer would not replace tires. On four orginal equipment firestone, infinity tires size p215/60r15 with fourty thousand miles treads were beginning to crack. Dealer has been contacted and has replaced all four of the defective tires.

Dt:has had to replace three different sets of tires because the tread has separated from the tire and the rim will not hold air. The last time he had them replaced they put too much air in the tire and another dealer checked the tire pressure and told caller it was dangerous to have that much air pressure in the tires. Now he can't get in touch with firestone at all and the dealer will no longer help or give him the phone number to firestone.

The tires are coming apart in different areas of the threads. I have owned several vehicles and never had this kind of a problem with tires before. Are they on the recall list? the first flat tire was the left rear, I'm not sure if the tire # is the same as the one I listed for the most recent flat on the right front. At 9000 miles center treads of all tires were showing abnormal wear. Spoke to gm directly, they sent me to dealer. I was told that is the way the affinity tires wear and they should be good for another 30,000 miles. I asked them to put that in writing for me, of course they refused. At the present 13000 miles, the tread wear is spreading. If gm and Chevrolet both knew that these tires wore this way, they could have at least given the option of upgrading to better tires. I do not feel safe with these tires, especialy with the weather conditions in the are that I live. . I believe that I was taken advantage of by a major corporation to the fullest. . Complete tire # p215/60r15 93t mt5 , tpc spec1139m6, #027487. Tire seperated/peeled off from right rear rim as I was driving on freeway at app 65mph. I replaced this tire with the same brand & size & am concerned because of what occurred on my car as well as the problem that firestone is presently experiencing.
