Anti-theft Devices Problems of Chevrolet Monte Carlo

I recently purchased a used 2002 chevy Monte Carlo. However I have been having intermittent problems with the vehicle not starting. It has had the recalled ignition switch replaced but every once in a while the vehicle still doesn't start. I have done some investigating on the web and discovered it is a very common problem of many general motors makes between the 1999-2004 modal years. The vehicles vats system (vehicle anti theft system)will not allow the vehicle to start. When the vehicle doesn't start I have to wait 10minutes and low and behold it will start. This is a very common problem that is not only aggravating but could be potentially dangerous if the vehicle needs to be moved in an emergency situation. Consumer complaint concerning the 2004 Monte Carlo gm security system. The security system installed in the consumer's vehicle is no longer manufactured. The consumer is concerned that if any of the components fail the entire system may need to be replaced.
