1 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 12/23/2023

I am having issues with my engine unintentionally turning off because of my ignition key and I sent it to the shop for recall repair but they said they didn’t have the part and couldn’t find it because it’s not available.

2 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 02/22/2022

These issues have been spotadic since I aquired the vehicle in October of 2021. Not infrequently the abs system feels like it is trying to engage at low speeds with light braking such as in a parking lot. This also happens after coasting(no gas, no brake no cruise control))and then accelerating the radio will randomly stop playing or begin playing. The turn signal indicator chimes randomly stop chiming when the turn signal is in use though the interioir indicator light will flash normally. I have not been able to stop when this occurs with the turn signal still active to get out and verify it the turn signal is actually working at random times a loud clacking sound will come from behind the dash in the general vicinity of the radio and there will be no out put from the dash vents until the clacking stops. The use of any controls whether radio or climate does not seem to cause this nor will it stop it. Actuator doorb and/or solenoid perhaps?.

4 Equipment problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 07/20/2019

I purchased a 2001 chevy Monte Carlo ss in 9-01. I did not realize until recently the engine was built 2000. I would not have purchased. My car has had multiple problems. The recent occurred July 20th 2019. My odometer is 117,166 original miles. The intake manifolds and upper intake manifold is all made of a plastic. I went to start my car which has been running fine. Around 6-7:00 pm I heard a loud boom. It startled me and my nieghbors even came out. I noticed smoke coming from the front drivers side. I popped the hood and flames were shooting straight up the firewall onto the inside hood. I immediately screamed get me water and noticed the fire extinguisher. I smashed the glass grabbed it and began to put out the fire. Remind you the car has a cover I was using both hands removed the oil cap pulled the cover and still spraying I put the cover out and continued with the engine placing the oil cap to prevent cross contamination. I was able to put out the fire I had cuts to my hand and it singed the hair on my arms and my wrist had a slight burn. However, I have know idea how I was over looked on the 5-17-04 fuel pressure regulator recall part #03064b my car is a 3. 8 litre k series. If I would have had my granddaughter she is in a car seat the damage would have been much worse. The flames were so high they almost reached the tree branch. The scary part is gmac is aware of the possible fire and is trying to settle with me for minimal amount. I just spent thousands because the car hit 100,000 so new radiator, tune up etc. This was a very expensive purchase and to think I have been driving a time bomb. Luckily I wasn't in traffic or in a place where I had to pull my granddaughter out and the car seat because the entire car would have burned. I honestly thought it was going to blow up. I can actually shove my fist in that upper intake manifold. See complaint odi112351110.

Recall no. 14v400.

8 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 11/16/2016

My car has a strong gas odor particularly in colder weather. I noticed it last winter and it went away during the summer. Now that the temps are getting cooler, it has started again. I turn on the heat and have to drive with the windows down for ventilation. I've had three different mechanic shops check it out. None have been able to find the cause. It is embarrassing in the school car rider line or in a drive through. Someone always comments on it. I am worried it may catch fire.

9 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 10/24/2016

Torque converter failure.

10 Equipment problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 10/17/2016

My car will not turn all the way off to be able to remove the keys from the ignition. I understand there is a recall on 2000 models and up. And there is a recall for the same issue on the 1999 lumina - but not on the Monte Carlo, given that the mc is so similar to the lumina, I think there has been a mistake not including the mc. It has happened on several different occasions and is getting worse. I believe the 1999 should be included in the recall also. Please let me know, thank you. If you are not the right people please point me in the right direction.

11 Equipment problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 10/17/2016

Nhtsa campaign id number 14v400000 - I sent a prior complaint today regarding my 1999 Monte Carlo and I apologize for misstating a fact. . I said in the original complaint that my Monte Carlo was listed on the recall at the year 2000. And that it was similar to the lumina, I meant to say that it is similar to the 1999 malibu, which is being recalled because of the ignition system. The recall number is 14350. And my complaint number that I sent earlier which describes in detail the problem I am having is 10916644. .

12 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

Vehicle does nothing when you hit the gas from take off then slams into gear jolting forward. Does not want to shift between 3rd and 4th gear. Seems to be a drive issue. Constantly says replace remote key less entry battery. Dealer has not been able to fix key less entry issue.

13 Equipment problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 04/23/2016

My vehicle has not been in for oil dripping onto manifold. Need new slip for shop to fix.

14 Equipment problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 03/10/2016

I took my vehicle to have service done on a recall involving potential under hood fire to replace valve covers. The oil was/is leaking onto the manifold and causing the car to smoke. I barely drive this car and it is still leaking oil onto the manifold and smoking. Now the dealership will not fix what they supposedly fixed.

15 Equipment problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

16 Equipment problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 08/10/2015

I have a 2003 montecarlo ss with a 3. 8 engine. Recently within the last couple of months my security light has come on. Have been told it is the pass lock. 20 Equipment problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 12/16/2014

Driving down the highway with the cruise control the speedometer started to bounce up and down very erratically. When the speedo would start bouncing it would disengage the cruise control. At some points it would bouncing up and down but not come back above 40 or so mph. When it would do so the transmission would down shift and rev way up then the needle would come back up and the tyranny would shift back up. I had the needle go to 0 and not come back up at all and when sat for a second the transmission would kick completely out and I would be stuck on the road for a minute. After sitting for a bit I could move but the needle stayed at 0 and the transmission acted to be stuck in 1st.

21 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

Aside from the problems with my ignition due to recall, it has been extremely hard to change gears, I often have to use two hands to switch the shift from park to drive or vice versa. The button on the gear shift is extremely hard to push.

22 Equipment problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 09/15/2014

2001 Monte Carlo ss; I've had many different occasions on where the car just dies while I'm driving it. They had a recall for the "ignition key" I took it in, they "fixed" the key-not the ignition, and still, to this day, the vehicle continues to die while driving, which includes loss of power steering completely. Luckily, I have not had a car accident due to this issue, but it's still scary when it happens. It happened again today, 5/29/2015 while driving and completely lost steering control when it died.

23 Equipment problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

24 Equipment problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 04/17/2014

I was driving home from work and was involved in a car accident, where I rear ended another vehicle. I was shaken and unaware of what happened as it happen extremly fast. As I hit the vehicle in front of me I had no control of my vehicle. My air bags deployed but it was seconds after the impact which I though was very odd. When I treid to move my vehicle off to the side of the road I noticed the ignition switch wouldn't turn. After playing with it for several minutes I was able to move the vehicle. I just thought is was because of the accident. Since then my ignition switch has locked up 2 different times, making me connect all the dots back to my accident. I belive this ignition switch caused my accident.

25 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

When all of a sudden all the traffic suddenly stopped real fast, it was about three to four in front of me. So I try to brake thats when my steering wheel got hard to where I couldn't turn away in time so I can avoid a crush. 29 Equipment problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 01/09/2013

I have a 02 Monte Carlo that has a security fault light that pops up the car wont start wont even try to turn over ive looked up what it could be and while I was looking ive noticed that multible makes and models have had same problem Honda, but at least Honda had enough decency to recall their mess ups. Multible makes from chevy have this problem. I believe they need to recall this. I know of at least 6 cars around same year have this problem.

30 Equipment problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 09/18/2012

Very common problem with transmissions in the 2000-2005 impala and Monte Carlo models. Transmission makes going in motion from a stop delayed. Transmission has been serviced on/replaced twice. Has caused a minor accident only because both parties were going slow.

31 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 07/17/2012

When I attempt to turn off my vehicle, the key will not rotate to the off position. . Therefore, the key is stuck in the ignition and the car is still on, draining the battery. I took the car to a dealership in 2013 and told nothing was wrong with it but they charged me $165. 00 to put in a new ignition. The problem was intermittent until December 2014 and now the key is permanently stuck in the ignition and if I want to drive my car, I have to charge the battery every time I drive it. Gm just recalled the cobalt and hhr for the same issue. Why not expand the recall to include all gm products with this issue.

32 Equipment problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 07/05/2011

No complaint inquiry into data base.

33 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 06/30/2011

When we put the vehicle in park to exit it, the key gets stuck. As a result we have to hit the gear shift a couple of times to remove key. Doesn't happen each time but does happen often.

34 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 05/01/2011

Traveling on us 90 w. All of a sudden no gages. For weeks there after I was scared and extremely concerned my car was over heating(maxed out temp range)and speedometer on zero. In short it does every thing reading wise except correctly once the key is used. I (think ) I'm hearing a "pop or distorted/short" in the speakers. . I have not installed or otherwise altered any eqipment or made any changes to the original eqipment of any kind. . . After reviewing the internet and asking other owners of like make/models and the "other closly related models I. E impala I've been told more having this problem than not. I'm also finding it seem to be a problem rather earl in production years and appears to be a defect in engineering/assembly of these automobiles. (perhaps a full review of electrical patient/design and assembly methods may resolve why this is happening. I truly want to start a class action to "repair" (no money)with new re-designed installs by dealer. As of today my "carlo" is at 89000 mi. . . Please feel free to contact me if I can help or you know of a correct fix. Dealer wants 700 to relace dash. . (is this new dash different in any way from oem build I wonder)also my avalanche truck at 60,000+ doing the same thing. Does it take a fire or death to recognize this a reoccurring default in mfg. Of Chevrolets. Gm and its dealers are mum and it must be my fault. Perhaps a complete electrical review of gm engineering is in order not withstanding durability standards and who makes the wires/assembly and where. . I'm just saying.

35 Equipment problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 11/10/2010

I was driving on the 105 freeway and the car cut off on me in the fast lane. I pulled the car to the side and tried to start it back up. It wouldn't start at first but after a couple more of times of trying, it started up and I went on home. This car was my moms friend's car and he couldn't drive it anymore do to health problems, so he gave it to me. This shutdown happen to me 3 more times where the car just shutdown while im driving, and then it stated to shutdown while I was at a red light, but it didn't. I asked my moms friend about the car and he told me that he had bought the faulty ignition switch 2 times before, and he still have the papers from the shop where he paid them to fix it. My moms friend told me about the recall so I went to the gm in long beach CA. They gave me a card to call, harbor auto, ms. Lara bianka, (562)426-3341. I called and told her about what was happening to the car and it's on recall for the faulty ignition switch . She told me that the year 2001 is not on recall so she can't help me. I looked at the news report on nbclosgneles. Com for gm recalls and this is the same thing that's wrong with my car, the faulty ignition switch. I don't know what to do about this ignition switch because he tried to fix it 2 times already. I have to drive this car to work and back home. Now that I know what's wrong with the car, I just shake the key in the ignition and it will start back up. I don't drive on the freeways onless I have too. And when I do, I drive in the slow lane just in case it wants to shutdown on me. Please help me get the right part for my car, thank you.
