1 Cruise Control problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 05/22/2016

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. While driving 60 mph with the cruise control activated, there was a sudden increase of engine rpms without warning. The contact engaged the brakes in order to disengage the cruise control, which caused the vehicle to spin and crash into a concrete wall. The passenger sustained injuries to the shoulder and head that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and was not inspected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 37,000.

2 Cruise Control problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 12/16/2014

Driving down the highway with the cruise control the speedometer started to bounce up and down very erratically. When the speedo would start bouncing it would disengage the cruise control. At some points it would bouncing up and down but not come back above 40 or so mph. When it would do so the transmission would down shift and rev way up then the needle would come back up and the tyranny would shift back up. I had the needle go to 0 and not come back up at all and when sat for a second the transmission would kick completely out and I would be stuck on the road for a minute. After sitting for a bit I could move but the needle stayed at 0 and the transmission acted to be stuck in 1st.

3 Cruise Control problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 08/20/2014

I was driving down a busy street at approximately 25 miles per hour and my car accelerated on its own. I had to step on my breaks to prevent from rear ending the vehicle in front of me. Attention when I drive. However, less than one week later, I noticed that my cruise control light was on and I had not touched the button to activate cruise control at all. I never use this feature and couldn't understand how this occurred. I then begin to notice that the cruise control sign would activate itself and my I was no longer driving at the speed that I thought I was. I do need to back up and state that I had a big problem with my abs light going on and off and had taken my car to martin Chevrolet to have this problem repaired. After approximately 4-5 visits of the same problem and out of pocket hundreds of dollars, the service technician found the problem and fixed it at the tune of $200. I do commend him for digging deep to find out what the problem was and he never gave up trying to find a solution. The last item I would like to report is the issue of me being shocked with small jolts of what I can only describe as small electric shocks when I would open my car door. This dates back to the first year that I purchased my brand new car.

4 Cruise Control problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 09/10/2010

A yr. Aft. I bought my 2005 Monte Carlo, things began going wrong with it. First 2 things to go:the cruise control & re-window defroster. The next yr, while driving at night on the interstate, I switched my lights to brights & within seconds I had no lights at all! this could of caused a very bad accident, I was able to quickly switch the lights back to dim & luckily they came back on. Since then, I no longer use the bright lights, for fear of my lights not coming back on. Then it seemed like everything went haywire after that, odometer showed that I was going 110, gas gauge quit & temp gauge registered past 260. Not a fun night to be driving, not knowing my correct speed, how much gas I had, if my car was going to overheat or have no lights! since 6/15/2012 the tach now registers between 6000-7000 rpms & none of the gauges are working properly. My car also smells like it has an exhaust or fuel leak which comes thru the vents, it makes me sick & gives me headaches. I took it to a dealer a yr. Ago, paid $98. 00 for them to tell me they couldn't find a problem. To this day, my car still smells like gasoline, I pray it doesn't catch on fire. Tonight I've been researching these problems & found that the faulty gauges is a very common problem with these cars & quite expensive to fix. I feel chevy should be held responsible for repairing this problem & all the others, after all they're the ones who built a car with many serious problems. This is very unfair for the many consumers out there who have spent their hard earned money to buy this car. Not everyone can afford to get this fixed along with paying the car payment. I don't understand why they can't be made to take care of this. What would have to happen in order to make them pay? what's listed above? a crash, fire, injury or death? shouldn't have to be that way, something needs to be done before any of that happens!.

5 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 01/18/2009

I have a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that I bought new and the cruise control will take over at any time or speed. It may go 2 weeks and not do it, but most of the time it will do it 2 or 3 times a week. When it does it may do it 1 to 4 times. I have taken it to my dealer 4 or 5 times but the just say they can't get it to do it . I called Chevrolet and they say they can't do anything tell it does it when they are driving it. Is their any one I can go to get it fixed before someone gets killed? I put the last time it did it in the box below but it does it at different time.
