About October 10th, 2017 I was coming up on a traffic light and when I applied the brakes, the pedal would not go down. I was going about 45 mph by the grace of god I was able to blast through an intersection and miss everyone, everything!. Rattled I guess I shut the car off when I regained my composer I started the car and everything was fine. I did not want to believe this happened! I thought I did something wrong maybe had my foot under the brake pedal or something. Have been driving the car since 2 weeks ago was stranded in a parking lot, would not start. Had the car towed home, tried to start it and started right up. Now service track light is on and anti lock brakes is on and service engine light is on sometime and the cruise light is on. Yesterday wife was driving the car and same thing no brakes, you could not push the pedal down it is as if there is something under the pedal it's that solid. My concern for my own safety as well as other Monte Carlo owners is most important. If either time we would have been on a expressway where we could not turn to a shoulder this would be catastrophic . Called the service manager where the car was purchased, also harbor chevy in michigan city, in and gates chevy in south bend, indiana, all said they have never heard of this before. Got on the internet and found similar posts in car complaints without any problem, seems odd gm does not know anything about this. For every ones own safety this should be a redundant system in older cars you would not lose all brakes. Could understand if you lost anti lock part but still could stop. This has to be a overlooked flaw in design and gm should be made to correct this before someone gets killed. If someones been killed by this how could they tell you that he lost his brakes? thank you mike.

The cruise light would blink when the heater fan was turned on and the cruise would quit while driving down the road. . I saw on the news last night where there was a recall. I've not recivedany info.

I would be driving down a road and suddenly the engine would die. I would immedeiately have no power steering nor power brakes. This happened several times. I have now stopped driving the car. No codes would show. My mechanic cannot find anything. When I take it to him, it did not act up. It is intermittent. Sometimes it would start right back up. Other times it would take hours or many hours before it would finally restart.

My speedometer, rpm, and gas gauges are inaccurate. I cannot tell how fast I am going, nor how much gas I have. Then ever since I bought my car, brand new, my transmission has been slipping, its an automatic. The dealer fixed it th e 1st time, but now again, 90,000 miles later, its us starting to happen again. My radio has stopped working, no light or noise period. Please recall because I have read literally hundreds of posts of the same problem in the same car. I paid good money for my car, not for this. All if these problems are unsafe and I really hate for my 1 year old boy to ride in it. Please, please recall the car.

All of my gauges stopped working correctly. This problem first started several months ago with my temperature gauge and battery gauges. Now my speedometer is fluctuating irratically and getting stuck. After review of other blogs and posts this is definately a manufacture defect and should be fixed by the gm.
All of the gauges have completely gone out in my 2005 chevy Monte Carlo ss supercharged including the speedometer, gas gauge, temperature gauge, oil gauge, etc.
Speedometer abruptly quit working indicating a speed of over 120 miles@hour while driving approximately 50-55 miles per through a highly controlled area. You may want to take a look at the on line comments made by other owners about the identical problem with no response from gm to their inquiries and gouging by dealers. Gm and dealers decline to acknowledge the issue, when you are disreputable it will catch up, no wonder the american auto manufacturers continue to struggle.
2005 Monte Carlo speedometer not working told the dealer about the problem and how I researched it on the internet and found out it is a very common problem for this vehicle and why this is not a recall issue of coarse they do not know.
When pressing the accelerator after being stopped at a light, the vehicle jerks and vibrates a couple of times before accelerating. It feels as if the gear is not shifting properly. It happens often and thrusts us forward quite a few times.

My instrument panel for over 4years has intermittently stopped like the speedometer would say I was going 100mph while going 20mph or 0mph when going 45mph. I have reported to various auto shops and Chevrolet dealership and was told that if not constant do not worry about it. Now the rpm are stuck at 1 rpms and the speedometer is intermittent and not sure my other guages are correct??? I am so frustrated as gm states they will not fix and no recall yet I read everywhere that people have gotten in fixed or have the same problem. This should be a recall and per the info below gm is fully aware. The dealership wants me to pay $500 for a defect and I need help. Also per the info below it has to be under 70000 miles. Well I have reported it since 55000!!! I want my car fixed by gm but they are refusing. What do I do? gm parts bulletins & information - to Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC dealers subject:bulletin gmp07-174 - special coverage adjustment #07187- instrument panel cluster gauge needle functionmessage #:vsu20071575 special coverage adjustment #07187- September 28, 2007 customers are being instructed to contact the dealership to arrange an ext; Chevrolet avalanche, silverado, suburban, and tahoe; and GMC sierra, yukon, and yukon xl vehicles have reported that the instrument panel (ip) cluster gauges stick, flutter, or become inoperative. This may cause inaccurate readings, including the speedometer and fuel gauge.
The ignition causes the car heater and air lights on dash to go go out while driving.
I was proceeding to go up a hill and pressed on the pedal for a little more gas when all of a sudden it felt like the pedal caught on something and was being pulled closer to the floorboard and the car going faster and faster even after I took my foot off. I tapped the pedal two or three times before it finally let loose and engine was not racing. It has happened two times before but it was not as bad. I wanted to check on your site to see if there had been a recall before I take it to the garage.
Purchased a 2005 Monte Carlo on sept 22nd from Mitsubishi motors at 90160 hickman rd des moines, IA, 50325. It was with in a few days (approximately Friday sept 26th) that the speedometer stuck at zero and did not move until the car was shut off. The car also was shifting hard and making a noise called Mitsubishi and took the car into be looked at. I only told the service person about the shifting noise but told the tech about the speedometer sticking at zero. The service people says there is nothing wrong with the car that it is supposed to make that noise and the speedometer did not stick for the tech. The speedometer kept sticking at zero and a video was taken of it while driving down the road that it is on zero and the car is passing houses. Called Mitsubishi and tried many times to email the video to them but their email would not accept the video. Took the video in and bo laughed at it and did not really seem to care that something was wrong with the car, he said we would have to go talk to someone up front but no one was there because they where all over at the new building. Called the new building now is des moines imports at 11400 NW 54th Ave grimes, iowa 50111and talked to a jessica and told her about the car and how upset I am at the way I have been treated by Mitsubishi dealership. Jessica says that bo is no longer even with them and that I should talk to andy and some other guy from kia. So I talk to andy and told him what has been going on and made an appointment to have the car looked at. We drop the car off and hear nothing from them all day and it?s getting late in the day after 5pm, so I have to call them to ask what is going on. They could not get the car to do it and they want to keep it another day, they drove it twice already. Next day I hear nothing and have to call again we can't be with out the car and they can't get it to do it. I have a lot more detail and they only want to pay 100. 00 towards bill. I don't feel this is my bill.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The contact stated that the traction control sensor illumianted intermittently. The contact indicated that it was extremely difficult to get the vehicle to change gears from the gear box. The contact applied force with both hands several times, to get the vehicle to change gears in drive and reverse. There was also a loud noise upon pressing the acceleration pedal and the vehicle was slow to pick up speed on numerous occasions. The tire pressure monitoring system sensor was also illuminating constantly. The vehicle was to be inspected and diagnosed by an authorized dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. Dyd.
First off, the speedometer started to incorrectly measure the speed and slowly over 3 months it stopped working totally and now doesn't work at all. In addition after buying the car it had a clunking noise when making turns at slow speed. . I brought the vehicle in 2 times for this problem and it wasn't fixed either time and gave up because gm couldn't fix it and was going to charge me once I was out of warranty.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The contact stated that the vehicle speed control failed. The vehicle has not been inspected by a dealer. The failure mileage was 44,000 and current mileage was 45,000.
While driving my 2001 Monte Carlo ss at 65 miles per hour on the interstate the car would shut off on its own leaving no power steering, brakes, or power to anything. The car did this several times. I contacted gm directly when this started happening. Basically I was told too bad and they couldn't help me. Jun 5, 2014 summary history display store 01 servc01 total r/o's 1 total serv. When vehicle is parked on a incline hill, and after it's put in reverse with brakes no longer applied, car starts to move forward. Consumer has to apply brake and gas at the same time to prevent vehicle from going forward.
Vehicle rolls back when on a hill, and it's even worse when a/c is on. Rpm's aren't sufficient enough to hold vehicle on a hill.
For the past 6 months, my car engine races from 3000 to 5000 rpm making the car very difficult to control and stop. On several occasions, I have come close to getting into an accident because the car is difficult to stop or wants to lunge forward when I am stopped at a light. I have brought the car back to my dealer four time since December. When I bring it there - the car is acting normal so they claim the car is acting at factory spec. I brought it to the dealer on 4/14/2000 - I had it in park and the engine was running at 3000 rpm. The service manager refused to look at the car because he had no mechanics. I turned off the car, started it up again, and the car ran normally. I am afraid to drive this car anymore for fear that I will get into an accident and someone will get hurt. My dealership is not helping me.
