2001 Monte Carlo ss failure of steering knuckle passenger side. Replaced outer tie rod two times on second replacement noticed tie rod was loose in knuckle after looking closer I saw large crack in tierod hole that if separated completely the steering would have failed. Had to replace steering knuckle and tierod again. Was told that this happens very frequently with all models of gm cars with this same setup. Mileage at failure was around 110,000 miles.

Today we were told that the right tie rod end needed to be replaced. Yearly inspections are done on our car and this past year we have only put about 2500-3000 miles on it, total 16,200. We keep the car in the garage and in great condition. Obviously we are a bit aggravated to be replacing any parts of a vehicle with such little miles.
