Failure Date: 11/19/2025

I took my car into freeland Chevrolet for the recall my car was running great, when I picked it up it was idling rough and smoking on my way home it was stalling out at every stop causing me to loose control of power steering and braking creating a safty haszard called them the next day and told them about it which they already knew because the manager was outside when I started it up. They said it was thowing 11codes when I brought it in saying that was the problem, which I could not have drove it their in that condition and never would. Got in touch with corp office. In the mean time I had it towed back to them on dec1,,,. Because its undrivable. Then on dec11 got a call from corporate say I had to pay 253. 00 for a diagnostic also they told them it was throwing 21 codes when I brought it in. Whats the truth? they endangerd many lives by letting me drive that car off the lot. That tells me they have no regard for the safety of the public. My car is still there.

5 Steering problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 06/20/2016

Takata recall. I spoke to a representative at gm asking about the recall of my vehicle and said my warranty was expired. I just recently bought the car from another person so how I was suppose to know about the cars recall. The problem with the car is the ignition switch whenever I rotate it to turn it on it does not start. I would have to rotate it slowly to the start and as well let it go slowly for it to start. So its not functioning properly. I want to file a complaint to gm for I can get my car fix since it could be caused of my death and the death of other civilians that are near my car whenever it gives up or even worst.

January 11, 2015 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo - VIN: 2g1wx15k839111291, mileage: approx 120,000 since October 2014, the car shuts off while driving. I loose the power steering and it's very scary if you are on the freeway. It's hard to bring to a stop and sometimes when I shift to park it makes a horrible grinding noise. It always restarts after I sit awhile and drives like nothing has happened. . It has happened numerous times and now it's happening more often. It could cause a bad accident. It's to the point I am very scared to drive it, because I never know when it's going to happen. Last wee it happened three times. I took it in for the recall where they modify the key. It did not help. My excellent mechanic said he has never had a situation like this where he can't figure out what's wrong. (incident information will not let me enter dates).

I was driving (with my children in car) and the car just shut off. I had no power brakes or power steering. Luckily, one child was in drivers ed & knew to put car in neutral & we coasted to a stop. Once I calmed down, I drove my monte ss to the dealer and described what happened. The kept car for a week and insisted there was nothing wrong! I drive 1-3 hrs for work daily and I didn't trust the vehicle on interstate. I purchased another vehicle 6 days later but gave this car to my child for in town driving. I was never the wiser until I heard about the recall yesterday & it's description. The monte should be involved in recall too. I was preparing to purchase a new impala but now I believe gm is still not being honest about all the makes & models involved with ignition problems.

21 Steering problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 01/14/2011

Clunking noise in streering wheel. . Local aaa repair center gave me a service bulletin lidting this as a problem with the steering intermediate shaft in various gm models since 2000. The above mentioned shaft was replaced and the clunking went away I have the replaced shaft gm's origional fix was a lube kit(which did not last) then they listed a new "fix" change the shaft. I would like to know if the NHTSA has reviewed this problem since this is a part in the steering wheel and problems were identified in the 2000 year models? why wasn't there a recall on this?.

26 Steering problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 08/26/2009

2000 chevy Monte Carlo with steering problems. Loud "popping" or "clunking" noise when turning at slow speeds. I've found several recalls for 2000 chevy Monte Carlo but it states my car isn't affected. Older model cars have issues with wear & tear but if there is a consistent problem with a make/model of car I would hope gm would investigate and prevent accidents. While going through the list of complaints it's very obvious it is a continuous problem and should be addressed ASAP. How many lives need to be lost before a total recall is issued?.

28 Steering problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Failure Date: 12/24/2008

I have a 2006 Monte Carlo w/35k miles, clean title. Took it to chevy 2 months after purchasing it in August, 08. Steering issues appeared, very dangerous when driving. Chevy, "repaired" the issue, but 3 days later, the problem re-appeared while parking to move out the way for a car coming at a fast speed and almost got hit due to the defective steering. This scared my brothers 10 month old baby and we knew this had to be resolved. I'm not quite sure what I can do as this issue seems to be "repaired" but it is a very dangerous issue and I'm sure if you research it, you will noticed it is on a vast majority of gm vehicles. Please advise as to what I can do. I'm currently financing the vehicle, and would like to plane and simple cancel the contract. I'm afraid something worse down the road is possible of happening, and don't want a child to be apart of the scenario in the event it is a crash.
