Wheel Bolts problems of the 1996 Chevrolet S10

Five problems related to wheel bolts have been reported for the 1996 Chevrolet S10. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Wheel Bolts problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2002

Four studs on rear left tire came off, almost lost control of vehicle.

2 Wheel Bolts problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2001

3 lugs: studs on right rear wheel sheared off under normal driving conditions.

3 Wheel Bolts problem

Failure Date: 07/05/1999

Driving OH highway about 45mph and coming off a ramp, the wheel studs broke off, causing tire to come off. Contacted dealer and manufacturer.

4 Wheel Bolts problem

Failure Date: 10/01/1997

While driving the 5 lugs:nuts broke off all at the same time, causing the wheel to fall off. Also, brake hub fell off. When the lugs:nuts broke, the truck rolled without any wheel for a couple of seconds which caused the wheel assembly to tear up.

5 Wheel Bolts problem

Failure Date: 07/04/1997

Consumer states that 4 out of 5 lugs: nuts broke off from the back wheel. The dealer has fixed the lugs: nuts, and they are coming off again.
