Four problems related to carrier/rack have been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet S10. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While pulling into a parking lot cable that holds spare tire under vehicle broke. Consumer stated that if this would have happened on highway someone could have been seriously injured. Please provide any further information.
The cable that holds the tire up has snapped twice now. The first time no damage occured however the second time my truck has sufferd damage due to the potential problem of the inadequate spare tire hoist.
Pe99004, spare tire that is held by wire cable assembly broke while driving, causing the spare tire to fall off, almost caused an accident. Cause unknown. Also happened to consumer's Chevrolet truck, S10, 1993 vehicle.
Sometime since 10/98 the last oil change the spare tire fell out completely taking the cable that holds it up with it.
