Two problems related to rear window wiper washer motor have been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet S10. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Windshield wiper motor failure on my 1997 Chevrolet s-10 blazer. I was informed that a recall was issued last year on s-10s for wiper motor failure, that you had to have the vehicle with less than 70,000 miles on it. I had 72,000 miles, therefore did not qualify for a recall. Since that time I have been having more and more trouble with the wipers quitting in time of rain and other times. I think gm should replace them no matter what the mileage is. It is becoming very hazardous these days, not knowing when they will work or not. Many times I have to get out of my vehicle and get under the hood and jiggle the wires to the motor, which is very annoying. I bought my vehicle new in 97 and was well pleased until this happened. I have come close to having accidents in the rain when they fail. Thank you.
The windshield wipers became inoperable and obstructed the drivers view.
