Four problems related to fuel pump have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet S10. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1999 Chevrolet S10. Consumer states that he had a fuel pump replaced after the original failed. The replacement part failed after less than a year. The consumer also stated the second fuel pump was defective. The consumer is requesting reimbursement for the second defective fuel pump.
Vehicle ran out of gas and lost power while driving. This occurred because of failures in the gas gauge and fuel pump system. Gas gauge failed to read the correct fuel level in tank. This failure also caused the vehicle to fail state inspection.
Truck refuses to start when engina/outside temp is warm-dealer states fuel pump not putting out sufficient flow-car will start 10 minutes after failed attempt-dealer wants approx. 1000. 00 dollars to replace fuel pump on this vehicle, with no guarantees this is the problem. Prblem is similar to others found on your complaint posts.
Previous complaint of no start condition-dealer suggests new fuel pump at an estimated cost of 1000. 00. I have determined that fix relates to a faulty gas cap. It puts the fuel system in a deep vacuum on a hot or warm restart, this part cost 6. 60 at the local parts store. I can't believe that the dealer overlooked this and charged me 72. 00 for a fuel pressure test and then tried to sell me a 1000. 00 job by shotgunning in a part!.
