One problem related to trunk lid lock has been reported for the 2000 Chevrolet S10. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have a 2000 s-10 pickup . The tailgate cables broke first on the driver side. Before it was replaced the passenger side snapped when the tailgate was stepped on while loading/unloading. Luckily without causing any personal injury.
