Two problems related to front seat belt buckle assembly have been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet S10. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The consumer was involved in a major collision where the vehicle flipped approximately 6 times and ultimately crashed into a wall. The front driver and passenger seat belts had come unlatched. The vehicle hydroplaned after hitting water in the road, spun around 5-6 times, flipped back to front, hit a rock wall, and flipped on its outside.
Clips in the seat belt designed to keep the metal latch in place fell out, resulting in unraveling. Dealer notified and replaced seat belt. Both front seat belts also do not retract properly; on occasion, the seat belts will not pull from their housings at all.
