Three problems related to spare tire have been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet S10. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The spare tire (donut) on my 2001 Chevrolet s-10 pickup, has a 3/8 inch gouge in the sidewall, caused by the way the tire is secured to the undercarriage of the truck. When the cable that secures the tire to the frame is tightened so the tire is secure, it drives the tire into the frame where it wears a groove into the sidewall. I am reluctant to use the tire, as it looks like it would not perform as required.
Spare tire restraint cable broke allowing spare tire to fall from beneath truck while vehicle was under operation on a public road. The type of vehicle is a 2001 Chevrolet S10 pickup.
The spare tire which is mounted underneath the bed fell off. Two of them were lost. This could have been very dangerous for somebody else.
