Chevrolet S10 owners have reported 57 problems related to seats (under the seats category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Seats problem of the 2000 Chevrolet S10

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

The driver's seat has not been working properly for several months. The seat will not stay locked in place and this has created a dangerous situation, especially in intersections, when the truck has been in motion. Now that this has happened several times, I've been especially careful & prepared to move the seat back forward so I can again reach the pedals. My solution for the time being - placing a wooden 2x4 piece behind the seat so it will stay fixed. It's working, but it is very inconvenient getting into or out of the seat. Will try to repair or take to a shop if a recall is not mandated.

5 Seats problem of the 2003 Chevrolet S10

Failure Date: 11/29/2009

I bought a 2003 Chevrolet s-10 p. U at a used car dealer on 11-13-09, drove it home on 11-14-09 that evening. On 11-19-09, driving it home from the repair shop for not wanting to start, I pulled out onto the highway and the seat slid back on its tracks. On 11-29-09 leaving church, I pulled onto the highway and the seat slid back on its tracks again. I got it locked in place at the next stop light, and when I accelerated, it happened again. When I step on the gas pedal to accelerate, the seat rocks back, which appears to disengage the locking mechanism from the tracks, and the seat slides back. I drove it home on 11-14-09 that evening. It sat in the driveway until 11-17-09 that afternoon, when it got towed to the repair shop because it didn't start on 11-15-09. Picked it up on 11-19-09 around 5:30 pm sat in the driveway that evening. Drove it to work the next morning 11-20-09. Got done with work at 3:30 pm where the truck didn't start. Had it towed to repair shop. Being the weekend, and they're closed on weekends, it sat there through the weekend until 11-24-09 that afternoon got it back on 11-24-09. So for the short time I did have the truck, it happened on the three occurrences I described. I'm 5'-6" tall, so when I accelerate, and the seat rocks and slides back on its tracks, my feet are moved away from the accelerator and the brake pedals very quickly rendering them useless, until I can pull myself forward using the steering wheel and sliding up on the seat. Just double checking that the latch is down. Rocking back to check if it's locked. I have an appointment to take it back to the dealer on Thursday to check why it's not starting. I could probably have them check the seat also.

Ref: 2001 chevy s-10, extended cab, 4x2 the driver seat was adjusted forward (closer to the steering wheel), and while driving my daughter's (5' 2") seat moved all the way back where she could no longer maintain control of the vehicle. I tested the seat, while it was park and I can adjust the seat closer to the steering wheel and I can push the seat back everytime without using the bar that locks the seat in place.

The passenger side seat of my 2000 S10 pickup does not catch after you move it forward to gain access to the back of the seats. In order to get catch, I have to push as hard as I can back into the full back position. If this is not done and I make a sudden stop the passenger and seat are thrown forward toward the windshield. When I took it to the dealer the first time this happened they said the could not find anything wrong with the passenger seat but did fix the driver's seat that was doing the same thing. Plastic seat latch and actuator breaks very easily causing the seat to be in the wrong position possibly at the time of the break. The passenger side broke at 32k then the driver's side broke at 49k. To fix the problem the whole seat has to come apart so the labor is around 2 hrs then cost around $245 to fix and soon to break again. The actuator needs to be of a stronger material. A discussion page for s-10 owners zr2. Com has 2 pages of complaints on this one item. This inferior plastic part needs to be recalled! gm does not want to recall this because the s-10's are no longer in production. Please help us solve this problem by recalling this part.
