Two problems related to fuel injection have been reported for the 1996 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Intermittent problem, engine misfire at start, very rough idle, suspect poppet valve stick, obd code reads misfire on 6. Dealer charges 50. 00 to read and says to use fuel injection cleaner. Cannot get it to dealer when it does it and they will not repair solely on error code. This has failed over 6 times. Shut motor down and let it sit for a while and it restarts just fine. ,.
Injection pump has failed twice, causing consumer to push vehicle out of traffic. First time GMC put a new part on and vehicle lost brakes when pulling out into a intersection. GMC is not considering assisting consumer because there are too many miles, and money will not be spent to investigate. New part is failing faster than the old.
