general problems of the 1998 Chevrolet Silverado

Five problems related to suspension have been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/01/1998

Vehicle experiencing excessive vibration when being driven at 40 mph. Dealer says it's normal.

2 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/04/1998

The steering wheel would jerk. It feels like steering went out. The problem is intermittent, but an every day occurrence. Been to dealer & mechanic they could not locate cause of jerking.

3 Suspension problem

Rubbing noise would occur when making a slow left hand turn. It sounded like it was coming from power steering, or steering sector. Please provide further information.

4 Suspension problem

Vehicle wanders back and fourth while driving at speeds 30 to 40 mph. Dealer noted problem as manufacturing defect.

5 Suspension problem

While driving the steering wheel will jerk to the side. This is very dangerous it wil really cause you to over correct and cause a very serious accident. I really would like to find out if this has been reported before or if there has been a recall on this particular model. Other than this problem we love the truck.
