Five problems related to front seat belt buckle assembly have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer received recall 00045 for replacement of the seat belts that locked. The problem recurred, and had not been resolved. The consumer stated that the locking of the seat belt would at the least break a persons collar bone.
While driving driver's and passenger's seat belts will lock up. Consumer will has to unbuckle them, and putt them back on.
While driving on local road was close to a tree, looked back to the right and driver side seat belt became caught, and made vehicle accelerate. It spun the tires, and hit the tree. Contacted dealer.
Driver's seat belt is locking up. Occupant cannot use the seatbelt. It would not protect the occupant in event of a crash. Will be taking to the dealer. Please provide further information.
Passenger front seat belt will lock ,tighten up as soon passenger buckles in belt. Passenger cannot lean foward, cannot move. Manufacturer claims that by law child seat seatbelt must be installed . Consumer cannot ride in vehicle due to medical condition , cannot have seat belt locked up against chest.
