Conventional Parking Brake problems of the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado

1 Conventional Parking Brake problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2004

Parking brake on 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has worn out prematurely. Vehicle has 50000 miles, and parking brake will not hold at all. Took vehicle to garage to have parking brake adjusted, and after adjustment the parking brake still would not hold.

2 Conventional Parking Brake problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2002

Emergency brake does not hold. Consumer contacted dealer, and they stated brake pads needed replacing. Please provide any further information.

3 Conventional Parking Brake problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2001

Vehicle rolled forward while parked and brake was applied, owner replaced parking brake. Consumer had to jam the transmission into park to stop it from rolling. The dealer informed consumer that parking brakes wear out every 15,000 miles.

4 Conventional Parking Brake problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2000

Vehicle rolls back when parking brake is applied. Chiming alerts consumer that it is engaged. Parking brake has been malfunctioning since 6 months of purchase. Problem has progressed. Dealer was informed of problem. This vehicle was taken to the dealer who said there wasn't anything wrong. Consumer has been in contact with the gm customer service, but, is having a hard time getting a resolution to this problem.

5 Conventional Parking Brake problem

While driving emergency brake system malfunctioned, cause unknown. Please provide any further information.
