Engine Burning Oil problems of the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado

Two problems related to engine burning oil have been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2005

Consumer is requesting that a new engine be installed in the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado to rectify the oil consumption problem. The consumer stated the vehicle burned 1 quart of oil within 1,000 miles.

2 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2001

Vehicle was consuming oil. Engine was making tapping noises. Gauage would always be under normal level. No oil leakage was found on the ground. Dealer would not honor manufacturer's warranty because it was normal for vehicle to burn a quart of oil. Only if it burned a quart of oil would mechanic inspect vehicle.
