Five problems related to parking brake linkage and cable have been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Brake rotors unatural wear. Rotors deteriorating on edges leaving only 1 inch of pad surface to engage rotor, in the middle of the rotors on my truck increasing stopping distance. Also excessive rust on anti-lock break system causing system failure warning light to engage. Estimate of $2000. 00 to repair.
Parking break failure. Parking break never really felt right never would hold the truck I was told by inspector I need to get fixed and they said about $600.
Parking brake pedal broke off while setting parking brake.
Parking brake failures.
Emergency brake gave way on flat ground, and subsequently ran over driver's legs. Emergency brake goes to the floor. The rear brakes lock up. It was hard to shift into first gear and sometimes pops out of first gear.
