Check Engine Light On problems of the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado

Three problems related to check engine light on have been reported for the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2008

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving various speeds, the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle would stall. An independent mechanic could not duplicate the failures; therefore, the issues continued to persist. The gm dealer discovered that the crankshaft sensor was faulty. There were no repairs made to the vehicle. An investigation was opened in regards to the crankshaft sensor failures (NHTSA action number pe06016), but there were no recalls. The failure and current mileages were less than 77,000. Updated 6/22/09 the consumer stated the engine shut down on him whild driving on the highway. Updated 06/25/09.

2 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2004

While driving the check engine light appears on the dashboard and remains lit. The driver drove the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic replaced the solenoid seal but the problem still exist.

3 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2003

Consumer states that while driving the vehicle the check engine light would come on and stay on. Dealer notified.
